Nah..it was like $5 not worth going thru the trouble. I'll hold on to it...just in case. Who knows...once I install the new exhaust w/o a cat it might pop up?
I honestly didn't feel any major difference. A slight better throttle response.

The cat not being there won't affect the ECU readings. You should be good from now on.
Throttle response was the main point, good that you felt it. It will improve even more with the new exhaust
Mine is back to stock (since I shipped back the SC) and throttle response is way worse.

Hye guys, this is my first day on this forum.

I own a CBR650R 2020.

So, all I need to do is cap off the hose on top of the airfilter? Or which one?

I don't want any CEL's.. 👍

Hi
If you do not want to go through the whole process of installing the plates and removing the solenoid
you have to cap off the hose running on top and across the air box and the hole where the hose is connected, make sure to block both of them!!
if you have doubts feel free to post further questions.

Thanks for your superfast response!
The hoses, are that the ones I've marked in the picture below?

I've sent my ECU out to France for a tune (from A2/Lams to full power). I also run Daivo Exhaust from Thailand without catalytic converter.

PAIR hose is the one at the REAR of the airbox.

The front one is the crankcase breather - DO NOT block that!

J

So the yellow in the picture underneath, is the crankcase breather and may not be blocked. Right?

Hello everyone

So today I did blank the PAIR valves with the smart moto kit available from ebay, tomorrow the SC Project Dual CRT will be delivered and will be doing it over the weekend.
Not sure if I did the best thing to have it done it right now, instead of doing it after the installation of the new exhaust, but I did a 30 minutes test ride and felt better.

I was also able to completely remove the solenoid valve, I've used 27Ohm resistor 1/4W 5% tolerance to avoid having any engine light on the dash.

Everything worked out pretty well, it took me like 2 hours by myself, had to figure out a bit on how to make room to work around it, so if anyone is planning on doing it on CB650R, my best way was to remove the 2 air intake shrouds to be able to reach the bolts and have room to move the tools.
Had to curse a bit putting back the air conducts on the air-box, so another suggestion is to do not remove the conducts from the box itself, the conducts are made of 2 pieces so they can be split, one half stays on the box and the the other attached to the intake shroud.
So when removing the air box and the intake shrouds make sure to split the conducts.
This is probably shown on the shop book, which I own but I probably missed that point.

I've removed the reeds even though the block off plates are the new one (no need to drill recesses) bc I thought they would vibrate around 4000rpm.

The engine doesn't sound crazy anymore around 4k and it felt a bit smoother, throttle response less aggressive and the engine doesn't stutter, engine brake a bit softer as well, also the overall sound of the engine/exhaust was better even with the stock exhaust. Maybe since that "bag of bolt" sound is gone. That sound was pretty annoying to me and finally I got rid of it.

Be posting some update for the Sc Project in other exhaust thread.

Thanks to everyone for info in this thread, it was really helpful.

Would you be able to link the resistor? I know NOTHING about electronics, so what do I do to install it? Just bend the wire and stuck it in the plug? Electronics were not my thing.

E-Projects 10EP51427R0 27 Ohm Resistors, 1/4 W, 5%

Amazon product ASIN B0185FESBS
yes, bend the wires and stuck it in, you will probably need to shorten them just a tiny bit
bend them, put them in and you will see how much you need to cut

If you got an extra resistor you should totally mail me one in a paper mail envelope. I am in Illinois, south of Chicago wink wink wink.

Now these saw 1/4W but the original guy used 2W is that correct? Idk electricity stuff sorry.

Not really sure how many watt draws that solenoid
Also not sure if the ECU would require a certain amount of watt going through that connector (missing solenoid)
Looks like the most important factor is the ohm, so how much resistance is put into the electrical circuit

I don't think you need the resistor, I didn't install it due to it coming in late, I rode plenty of miles and no CEL.

okay awesome! I have a 2018, maybe the year matters? What yr is yours
I have a 2019 CB650R....but make sure you have the connector wrapped and zip tied to some place you can easily reach later.
If the light comes one...i'll send you a resistor.

awesome my man. Thank you.

later this month once the exhaust gets installed and dyno time comes, if I notice it's throwing a code I'll contact u. Thanks!!

I can now confirm, Smart Moto will ship to USA despite virus concerns. Was held at customers in Germany and Greece, but it got here after 2 weeks.

ALSO!!! New versions do have cutouts for reed valves.

Hey, I just picked up a used 2014 CB650f, and noticed the rattling should when below 3000rpm or rolling off the throttle, which I now understand is the pair valves.

I can tell it is going to annoy me, now I have noticed it! Especially when I can hear how smooth the engine is above 3000rpm.

Has anyone made a comparison video before and after this mod? It looks pretty manageable even for a novice, but I am wondering if it is worth going through all the trouble?
