Rode on a special track that's normally used by the Dutch police for training purposes. It was in the late afternoon/early evening (5-8pm) so at one point we had this beautiful sunset.

The picture is a still from video I recorded using an action cam. Will post some moving footage and more pictures soon.

Since it's getting dark earlier here, I've bought those H4 LEDs. I have no idea why this is illegal given the added security. Beam is spot on.

New tire day! I went with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III's. I never had realized how hard I was needing to push the bike over to get a good lean on the original tires- clearly they're much flatter for touring than the Pirellis. Leaning is effortless now, it's like a whole 'nother bike!

Put some new tank grip/protectors on and cleaned my Racetorx shift support and re-greased it again.

Fitted some custom levers to my 21' CBR650R. Just basic eBay levers, but I think a really nice difference to the bike.

Got to see how the Pirelli Rosso 4's do in the wet. Not as good as the Michelin Road 5s - less confidence inspiring.
On dry pavement they are amazing. Bike feels lighter when leaning and flicking and even the suspension soaks up small road bumps better.

Another track day weekend, and I've managed to properly bust the feeler mount on my right foot peg. That split piece you see in the pic actually comes right out. I just have it wedged back in there with a little Loctite adhesive to keep it in place and help reinforce the feeler bolt. I don't really expect it to hold if the feeler scrapes the deck, but I plan to take it easy on the next track day (maybe the last of the season for me, we'll see) and figure this will provide me one last warning should I get too carried away.

So I'll add that to the list of things I need to address this winter. Along with replacing the spark plugs, air filter, checking the valves, painting the cam cover to match my other covers, and will likely do the PAIR valve mod while I'm in there. And who knows, maybe Ohlins will have cartidges back in stock for these forks and I'll do that as well... or maybe just buy a new R9.

Beautiful day at the track, probably my last for the season. I love these October days because the local racing season is over and the cold morning temps discourage a lot of riders from attending the morning session. So there is very little traffic and lots of empty track, and this morning was especially nice with only 3 or 4 of us out on the track at the same time. Pic after my first session, about 9am, just chilling with my feet up, drinking some water and enjoying the morning sun. Notice the empty paddock except for one guy:

It was almost like having the whole track to myself. Lovely.

One the few guys who did show up brought his brand new R7. And after riding a session together, he let me take his bike out on the track for comparison. I'll write up my thoughts on the bike in the R7 thread, but the short version is I wouldn't trade my CBR for one. It was really cool of him to let me flog it around the track for a couple of laps, though. I think it looks great:

Dankotaru @Dankotaru That's so awesome he let you ride his R7. I don't think I'd trust any old average track day rider with my bike.
For sure. I was very surprised he offered. I like to think because we just rode like 12 laps together in the previous session (I was very curious to follow his bike for awhile and check out the R7 in action before passing him on the back straight, and then he trailed me for a bunch of laps) that he was comfortable with my riding. But it's probably more likely that he's just the most chill guy on the planet about other people riding his brand new bike, lol.

I thought about it for a long time and finally did it! Powder coated the foot pegs satin black.

That looks really sharp Goblin @Goblin ! Ive always felt the silver just didn't fit with the bike that well. I've been wanting to do the same but haven't taken the time to do it. Perhaps a winter project for me while the bike is out of commission for the season.

Thanks, This was only 1 day's work! in the morning took the pegs off away for powdering and picked them up 4 hours later and mounted them on the bike 😁

Powder coat looks great! I've been really keen to do this on my CBR. The colour scheme is gorgeous but I'm not a fan of the bright silver pegs on my fully blacked-out bike..
Is it really as easy as unbolt them all and send them off to a powder shop?

Yep is that easy. The only thing to beware of, ask for the axle where your brake pedal is attached to if they put masking tape over it, you don't want a coating there. 👍

another little bit of taste from the dragon, from the front view this time, went the following weekend as well
made a little mistake on mounting the camera and the mounting is not hidden in the stitch line, next time won't happen 😅

I like your mirrors- subtle.
