I did a stupid, stupid thing. 120km in an 80km past a speed camera. So looking forward to the mailman and potential court summons. That will teach me

Waiting to see you on the next episode of Highway Patrol. I was caught yesterday running a red light so same same, looking forward to the mailman.

Replaced the heated grips controller block. The PCB was heavily corroded and a capacitor had actually fallen off. Works good as new now.

It lasted 5 years, had a rubber sleeve over it but water could still run through to the top of the box. So I put wide, adhesive lined heat shrink tube over the top of the sleeve and cable so water now runs down the side instead of to the socket area.

Generally heated grip harness is wired really inefficiently too, running up from headlight to handlebar and back again for no obvious reason. So i put that right. Productive morning today ☕

Today I installed the final missing piece to complete the neo cafe lyfestyle - happened upon a pair of Rizoma bar end mirrors and couldn't pass up the deal. I have some Sato bar end weights coming in the mail in case the vibrations are too much, but so far it's not too bad.

Looks great 👍 is your (Rizoma model) fly screen the original one ore one of the copy’s? And if it is a copy, how is the quality?

It's the real Rizoma one, and the fitment sucked. The brackets were too wide by about 2cm, forcing me to excessively bend the screen to line up the mounting holes. Because of that, the silver finishing plate on the left side did not sit flush on the screen. This also put so much pressure on the screws that the silver plate eventually vibrated off and I lost it.

This is the only Rizoma product I have that I wouldn't recommend.

Damn sorry to hear! But did you order the right screen because there is one voor the CB1000R part number (RIZHH056B) and for the CB650R with part number (RIZHH057B)?

Yeah I confirmed it was the right part. At some point I was planning to bend the brackets to fit which would have been fine, but since I lost that plate I threw on a washer and just called it a day

Oké, I really like the products from Rizoma, always good quality stuff. I also like the look of the fly screen and almost bought it! Now I’m going to call my local Rizoma dealer to ask them what the heck is wrong with it (maybe they already made some adjustments) before buying it. Thanks for the heads up 👍

Let me know if you hear back from them, I am curious if they have anything to say about it because there are a few reviews I found that say the brackets had the same issue. Cheers!

Unfortunately I crashed the bike last weekend, I was very lucky not to hurt myself, beside having my left wrist and left foot hurting a bit for almost a week. I was wearing full gear.
Damages weren’t too bad, Puig screen broken and scratched a bit the dash housing, shift rod broken, a dent on the gas tank, the left engine case was missing and it did a great job at protecting the engine, the rear left fairing was damaged and scratched, also the rear cowl is scratched. And left hand guard as well. One of the mudguard bracket is bent, having my friend trying to get it straight at his shop.
Replaced pretty much everything already, also replaced the frame sliders with the T Rex set. Was able to restore a little the rear cowl with some paint polish (most likely will take it to have re painted).
Tried to pull the dent on the tank, not very easy, but still there a little.

Look like a bunch of scratched plastic, but not too bad. You're okay, which is what is important. Planning on filing an insurance claim, or just going to do it yourself?

Would you mind telling us what happened so we might learn from your unfortunate situation?

Sorry to hear about your crash. Most important thing is that you’re okay. I also crashed my bike this summer, I had the same dent in mine gas tank (your right side steering switch housing made that dent) so probably your steering holder is bent. The dent cannot be removed by pushing or pulling it out (steel is to thick and you cannot reach it from the inside) there are only two options, a new tank or a old school repair and spray paint job.
By the way, is your exhaust not damaged because it fell on the right side?

Wow, sorry to hear but glad you’re ok. Bikes can be replaced (repaired), people cannot. That’s what matters.

Any idea what happened?

not planning on open a claim, deductible is higher than the actual costs of the repairs. Yes the tank can be replaced, but I was planning on repainting the bike anyways in the future.

Yeah that's what I thought, the right control damaged the tank, but nothing is bent, just the right steering lock is a bit damaged, I might have some more steering angle now LOL. Exhaust is fine, I think the engine case protection is what made the bike move without having the big rock hitting the exhaust.

Thank you guys, I'm here and without being hurt, that's what matters, bike can be repaired or replaced.

As for what happened, my fault and nobody else was involved. I was riding around finding NEW roads, was looking at REVER app with planned route (so this might have played me a bit, I don't usually have the phone on the handlebar bc I don't like being distracted). and got into a very tight and downhill corner, got me kinda off guard, chocked on commands, a bit of gravel, slipped, kept the bike up but went off road. How can I say, the shoulder was a small hill, some rocks, when I realized what happened, the bike was facing the wrong way, so it kinda flipped over.

Took me a bit picking it up, the tip over sensor triggered but after a few power cycles the bike started up, rode almost 1hr in second gear to get home, left the bike sit still for a week, and fixed her up this weekend.

The rear right fairings were very inexpensive, also a good chance on replacing them since I did a crappy paint job on the rear handles.
As for the shifting rod, there was still some thread left and I was able to re use it, hopefully the QS is still working, but the thread is bent.

Downhill curves can be tough! It's easy to be going faster than you think you are when you get to them and grab too much brake. Gravel in a tight turn is a killer. You did well just to keep the bike upright. I can promise, the dirt is softer than the road. If you're going to crash, do it on the dirt. I'm glad you're okay.

Now the fun starts. I've always enjoyed repairing vehicles and doing maintenance. Since she's been dropped, you don't have to worry about little scratches anymore.

Yeah that's was really unexpected, learned my lesson, next time I'll just chill when riding unknown roads just to familiarize and be more confident for the next time out.
Luckily it happened on the shoulder, full of leaves, definitely was soft 😅
Thank again, got very lucky this time

Dropping the bike has been always something expected for me, so I wasn't really mad at myself.
Couldn't pretend to keep it as new as the first day I got it. 😂

"I might have some more steering angle now LOL" - there's always a silver lining 😅

Glad to hear you're okay and the bike only took damage that you could repair. Godspeed

Really glad you're OK.

I usually take it easy on the first pass down a road, especially if it's new, just to enjoy the scenery, make a mental note of road hazards, and watch for cops. Then, having effectively 'scouted' the road, I ride much faster back the other direction to get my kicks. This has proven to be a good strategy so far. I can't tell you how many times I've come across a hairpin curve and there was gravel in the road and thought, 'glad I'm not pushing it, or that would have ended my day.' I just have to be sure to remember those spots on the way back, lol.
