Gave it a wash today and a coat of XCP rust blocker clear coat. Was long overdue.. hadn’t given it a proper wash in a few months other than the usual chain clean and lube.

Hopefully this costing of XCP will see me through most of winter riding but will aim to do it again on milder dry days. IMG_9540.jpegIMG_9538.jpeg

I never seen the heated grips installed upside down, is there some reason for that?
Great catch, didn’t even notice that from R @Rijack pics. I’d think they wouldn’t get very warm since they usually don’t run as many heating coils around the underside of the grip. At least not as efficient as if they were more correctly positioned.

Came like it :(

It’s on my list. They are also pretty worn so I want to replace. The left one barely works either.

They are VERY glued on from a previous keeper. Might need to slice them off for replacement. But will try putting them on 100% heat and twisting to see if they loosen at all…

M @Motojack - very good made me laugh

Can highly recommend the genuine ones, the throttle is harder to install then generic heated but I think the work better. Have noticed Oxford are now supplying with the switches built into the left grip so looks a lot tidier.

It look tidier and are made of harder rubber so it should last a lot longer than the soft oxfords. The hottest setting is too hot for longer rides for me so after initial warming i always set it to the lowest one.

Try to use a syringe filled with isopropanol, stick a needle under the grip and try to dissolve the glue. I read somewhere that it work with Honda grip glue so maybe it will help here.

This was a local ride, just before Christmas. Empty dry roads ❤️

I changed the coolant to Mannol Pro Cool and disassembled half of the bike to mount the PAIR blanking plates.20251230_211523.jpg

Blanking plates from Aliexpress.

Yet again an intermittent electrical problem, this time it was on the auxiliary 7.5a circuit. The heated grips were cutting out and I suspected them of shorting when hot but upon replacing the fuse, I hear a zzzzzzz and a puff of smoke appeared under the tank rear bolt. Turns out the 6-way aux wires were rubbing on the frame for who knows how long and it finally kept shorting. A bitch to find and to rectify because I had to take the tank off in the dark.

Needed a new chain due to a blown ring, so put in a new did gold chain, jt front sprocket and a supersprox rear so it’s all done in one rather than a new chain on used sprockets.

Was a good opportunity then to re re-grease and re-torque various parts and try to give it a clean in the process.

Next predicament I’m trying to solve is my rear brake light… I saw there is a nut of some kind to adjust one way or another but mine seems to just be either always on or never comes on. No middle ground…

Maybe need some new wiring / parts for it but it’s such a PITA to get to!!!

Pic is part way through. People may not like the colours but I quite like the red / gold together!

Mr.D @Mr.D Other than since you have an aftermarket exhaust, I am curious how is drivability difference with the PAIR plates?

I only notice at super low revs. I had been compenstating for it over the years without realizing. Probably not worth it other than i got an exhaust.

But im probably not super sensitive to that.

Washed the bike today along with some other bits;
replaced the Oxford heated grips with some new ones - noting they are not upside down now :)

Fixed my issue with my rear brake light / cable. Now working perfectly again.

Cleaned under the seat around the battery and wiring - out of sight but it’s never been done so I now know it’s better.

Adjusted my gear selector lever to make it a bit more comfortable.

All in all, I’m pretty pleased with having so much daylight and sun to get on with everything.

Another good weather day, another couple of jobs

New oil and oil filter

Replaced spark plugs. Old plugs in the pic looks like it was a good time to change them, but not overly bad I don’t think so I assume there’s no wider issues to be concerned about.

Took a good 4-5 hours in total as my first time doing it and took the fuel tank off for the first time too so I had loads of space to work, plus cleaning parts as I go.
