Would you recommend replacing the gaskets for the install Even if there’s only 150 miles on the bike?

I am iffy on that if you have already installed it and there is no leak ( my case but I changed it anyways and it was hell of a bad experience ) but if you have not installed it yet, yes definitely change them. its like 4 bucks each, so pretty worth it. Make sure you put a little bit of oil on them before installing. They dont stick.
BTW I ordered my exhaust from MOTOSTARZ.CA not sure if may help you to find it cheaper because of the duty costs if you live in states.

it will not cause any problems man. Just take it our for a better sound and put it back whenever you wanna go for longer trips. You will lose some back pressure but it will be trivial.
Is it that easy to just put the baffle back in? I’ve read a lot of shit with people saying how hard of a time it was to remove it. Thanks for the guidance though.

It can get really hard and you may damage the baffle. I usually spray wd40 around it and let it sit for 5 min. Then use a plastic plier to take it out. (Twist and turns). U can also make a hook to attack it from inside. See what EnglishBikerDan @EnglishBikerDan has posted

The more you do it, the easier it gets. But you can also ride the bike in a manner that doesn’t need it in if you choose. Run a gear or two higher than you normally do and keep the rpms low and it will be quiet.

I always left mine in. To me it was the perfect level: not too loud, not too quiet, bike ran great, I didn’t piss people off coming home late in the day or early morning, it never droned and gave me a headache, etc.

I understand that people like their bikes loud but it doesn’t help you be “seen” on the road on the road (your pipe exits the rear, by the time they “hear” you you’re gone) and the bike runs like ass with fully open pipes. There’s no benefit to crazy loud at all, but the beauty of Akra that even with no baffle it’s not crazy stupid loud.

Just a quick feedback regarding exhaust gaskets. I didn't remember changing them on my previous bike (CBR500R) and that's because I kept the original ones. I changed the downpipes twice (Arrow and then Yoshimura), rode the bike +70k km and never had any issue. I did the same on my CBR650R: changed the exhaust system after 500km, no issues so far. I double checked with my dealer and another mechanic, they both said that at such low mileage there is no real need to change them. I'm not saying you cannot have issue, nor that's the path o follow, but that's just my two cents.

The manifold gaskets are not mileage dependent, they are single use, crush gaskets that won’t “wear out” but instead form a seal to your exhaust ports and header pipes. I question whether your dealer or mechanic understood the actual gaskets you were asking about and were thinking more along the lines of a typical exhaust where there is a gasket between the muffler and headers. THOSE would reusable, and they would have a life mileage dependent.

Think of them like the crush washer on your oil drain plug but instead of being “solid” are hollow and crush flat as you tighten it. It wouldn’t matter that it’s been on your bike 5 miles or 5,000 miles, they’ve been crushed, they’ve done their seal and are no longer able to be reformed and reused.

It’s great you haven’t had a problem, and I bet a lot of the time the new headers are totally flat and have enough movement to seat properly. But just as many times, it isn’t. Over the years I’ve done it both ways, with new gaskets and without, and had it go both ways, sealed fine and didn’t seal perfectly, that’s why I always buy an extra or two and always recommend to replace them, as do the exhaust manufactures and Honda in the service manual if you need more proof.

You are simply gambling by not replacing $15 of seals along with a $1,000 exhaust and not doing it right the FIRST time instead of having to do it twice. Look up the posts by FogDucker @fogducker that show how well the second removal and install went.......

Saw this yesterday parked in front of the Toronto mot show
Seems pretty slick to me. Although I’m not a big fan of side mounted pipes.

When people are saying they ran a full system with no tune, do you mean full Akra without baffle and CAT without a tune?

Or a full Akra with both CAT and baffle?

The latter would run se as stock, the former would be super lean wouldn't it?

I'm thinking of running the CAT and no baffle. Hoping the CAT retains enough back pressure to maintain n the AFR, and no baffle for sexy sounds...

You are fine running an Akra without a baffle and without a cat and without a tuner.

Is this something you have done for a while?
It's something a lot of people have done for many miles. I ran mine with the baffle in for 5,000 miles before I sold it, the next owner pulled the baffle and put another 8,000 on it then traded it in on a GSXR, zero issues.

The Akra pipe is designed to run that way, without a tuner. I do not know about other brands.

I just spoke to a revzilla tech over the phone and he strongly advised against drilling out the tac-welded baffle. I’m about to order my Akropovich system but I don’t want to drill the baffle out without getting tuned if it’s going to cause problems. Any advice?

That's just standard corporate-speak. If you called Apple and asked them about jailbreaking an iPhone they'd say the same thing (sorry, lack of better analogy!).

This exhaust sounds absolutely amazing with the baffle out (and really, not that great with it in). Still no tune required. And the sound isn't annoying when cruising. It's just...awesome.

I’ve been riding with the baffle out for a couple weeks now and it sounds incredible but my hearings gonna be completely demolished if I don’t get some quality ear plugs soon lol

100% agree. I purchased a set of Eargasm (https://eargasmearplugs.com/products/eargasm-high-fidelity-earplugs?variant=12120483004489) earplugs and love em. Can still hear my music and other folks I'm riding with perfectly fine and it brings the exhaust note down just a touch.

I'm running no baffle, no cat, and no tune. Sounds great, runs great.
