Was curious to see that accessory plug on harness on my CB650R.
Found it under right rear side panel. In fact there are 2 connectors with blind plug.
Accessory one is 4 pin but using 2 pins only.

Now, who knows what exact connector I need to obtain in order to plug it in? I have my own USB charger I want to put under seat...

There's nothing to indicate a missing connector for AU models in the service manual. In fact, other than LAMS this would be the first AU specific model variance we've come across.

Are you sure it's not tucked up in there somewhere? :)

I might have found it, but it's so high up it might be necessary to remove the headlight to get to it;

The guy in this post doesn't say how the person who installed his wiring managed to do it, just that it was easy;

I believe you have plug on your bike. Its accessibility is another topic. Search Honda accessories manuals, heated grips installation instruction, it is depicted there. At least I found it for CB650R

It's a 6 pin connector on my 2018 CBR650FA The mauve and red wires are both live. The mauve is supposed to go to the OP 7.5a fuse in fuse box 1 and the red to the 7.5a ODT/Turn fuse in fuse box 2 according to the wiring diagram. I'm too tired after night shift to play around with a multimeter to confirm.

Night shifts really messing with my brain. All the above I posted was incorrect. I just spent a while looking at the plug that is in a rubber boot between the frame and the side cover on the RHS in line with the battery. Here are the facts that I was able to determine.

  1. It is an 8 pin plug, not six as I originally said.
  2. There is a 6 pin plug on the RH rear of the fuel tank next to the hinge that is jammed in that I couldn't move.
  3. The 8 pin plug only has five wires going into it. A black with a red stripe, mauve, black, and two green with yellow stripe (ground wires)
  4. The mauve wire goes to the 30amp ABS fuse. In fuse box 1.
  5. The Black wire goes to a separate white fuse box taped outside of the others labeled 30a FSR. Don't know what FSR stands for.
  6. The black with the red stripe goes to the 7.5amp ABS fuse in fuse box 1.
  7. The only wire that is not live all of the time and only becomes active with the ignition is the black with the red stripe.
  8. I have no idea what the 7.5amp OP fuse is for. Perhaps the accessory connector up above the head light that I am yet to be able to get to.

After a bit of swearing I managed to work out how to get the 2 pin Sumitomo options connector off it's mount near the top of the head light. At first it is hard to see where it is. Look up from underneath on the LHS of the bike. You will notice some cables that are in a rubber housing that has a splash of green on it. The two pin connector is to the right of that and to the left rear of a long rubber boot that is split at the front side of the bike and contains wiring itself. Refer to the picture of the female part of the sumitomo connector. It has a brown clip that is facing down. You have to be at the front of your bike and feel for this connection with your right pointing finger. You then have to do the same with your left index finger. I had to feel for my right finger with my left to get it positioned correctly. Push in and up on the sides of this brown connector and that will push your 2 pin Sumitomo up from it's moorings. You will then have to have fun pulling the connector to the RHS of the bike where you can push a fine screwdriver into the top side of the connector to release the female and male sections.

I confirmed that this connector is only live with the ignition on and is fused to the 7.5amp Options fuse under the seat.

That mount just unclips and should be left in place as you can use it to secure the harness. There's a little tab you lift and the connector just slides off.

I think you've made hard work of it 😂 it should be a tool less operation.

I tried to release the connector from the mount. No matter how much I wriggled it, pushed it, twisted it, I couldn't get the connector to slide off the clip. Doing what I did was the next best option and took a lot less time than all my other attempts. I reckon you must have longer fingers than I do mate :)

Ok, so I have bought a digital meter, that I have thought about connecting to the accessory plug. There are 3 wires from the meter, one that should go to the battery, one that goes to the ignition key and one for ground/earth. Is this possible with the accessory plug or will I have to use one of the plugs under the seat?

Thanks!

It was a successful evening for wiring last night, I made up the connectors for both bikes - after fighting to get the one on the bike off the holder.

I made pins for live (purple) and ground (green). I've tidied the cable on mine and need to do the same for the other bike.

Thanks again for the help Brammers @Brammers

Hi,

Can you share another picture of the connector under the seat now that the work is completed?

Thank you,
Magdiel

I did not read all the posts so sorry if this has been posted already. This is where I found the Sumitomo 2 pin connector. the wiring diagram states that this connector is optional so if it's for heated grips, this being a Canadian CB650F, I suspected that the plug would be there. It's inside the left shroud as shown in the pics. Violet (magenta? mauve?) and green wires.
