today I decided to do a couple of things I’ve been putting off (for no reason other than wanting to ride instead)
1) new clutch cable. Not sure it was strictly needed but it was a bit catchy and it feels like I was running out of room for adjustments etc. new cable feels way more smooth so far...
Late to the party but I have a shoe nxr2 and I just recently bought the “official” photochromatic visor for it, put the pinlock in for good measure.
Works great. Changes really quick I find. Pricey but tbh I’m glad I made the purchase especially without any in built sun visors or anything in...
Looks like you’re covered, but one for the future depending on your budget, an abba stand is great.
You can get the standard unit on which will lift the rear, and an attachment that will lift the front.
I used this one. I would say while it worked perfectly, I also tried to disconnect the old studs from the old nuts to salvage them after I put new ones in, but after a couple of uses it seemed to just match the thread and unscrew so long term quality isn’t great, but it got me out of a jam for...
What a faff…
Last year some point I put an aftermarket exhaust on. What I didn’t do was put new gaskets in (oops).
A few weeks ago I took the exhaust back off to put new gaskets in and in doing so one of the bolts snapped off the stud leaving me with a broken stud and 7 fine ones.
I added new...
Another Sunday, another clean. Ready for some riding tomorrow. 7 year old bike that’s pretty much lived outside and been used year round (especially by me). Some parts still come up real nice, other parts show their age and weathering and could probably use some TLC or replacing, but at least...
I think the bracket was about £80 on fowlers so not the end of the world. Think I might just do a nut for now for peace of mind until I’m ordering a few bits together
At the min I’m still not sure on any impact. I’ve ridden 4 or so times since this silly mistake and nothing has budged, bolt is...
Finding the correct bolt wasn’t the issue as I know what one I need but this bolt I’m talking about doesn’t have a nut as standard.
My query is more whether that’s a potential solution to add a nut (of the correct thread pitch so to not do any further damage) on the back of the bolt that sticks...
Looking for some thoughts.
Was doing some work on the bike earlier and taking off the really old engine bars.
When doing so, all the bolts I removed were rusted etc etc - not a huge issue as gave them a bit of a clean but when tightening everything back up, I think I overnighted the number 9...
When in slower moving / built up traffic and filtering etc they are always covered but generally on a back road I don’t when the view is clear etc.
I actually went for a ride today and turns out on my brakes it’s not 4, it’s actually 3.. now I’m intrigued as to whether I actually do 2 at times...
I use 4 and 4.
Bigger levers instead of shorties and just feels like I have more control and a better ability to lightly squeeze the brake but I’m ready for heavier braking if a hazard develops
I’ve not tried 2 but I feel like at this stage after always using 4 it would make me a bit “uneasy”...
This was a useful thread after doing mine today. Couple of things I picked up along the way:
• these plug tools worked really well as they had the moving attachment already on them to help with angles. Meant all I needed was one extension bar and one other joint and I could access them all (if...
Another good weather day, another couple of jobs
New oil and oil filter
Replaced spark plugs. Old plugs in the pic looks like it was a good time to change them, but not overly bad I don’t think so I assume there’s no wider issues to be concerned about.
Took a good 4-5 hours in total as my...
And do you have to remove the oem weight in the bar itself? Or are they designed to fit into that? The size of the linked ones looked like they are standalone?
Edit: disregard. Took the plunge and just went with OEM and ordered a new inner weight and parts for the missing side. Another thing...
At the risk of hijacking a thread, I didn’t want to start another bar end one.
I was installing my new heated grips and noticed my left hand side doesn’t have the weighted bar and it seems the bar end was only held in place but shoving it under the rubber of the grip so I currently have no bar...
Well, colour me impressed. I used the seal mate (hoping correctly), twisted it round a couple of times, pumped the forks up and down several times quite vigorously as was suggested.
Either my leak is much smaller / slower than I thought, or it seems to have worked.
I wiped the stanchion again...
Noted! Thank you. I think the seal mate arrives tomorrow so will try that tomorrow if it’s still light when I’m home. Worst case scenario is I’m buying the bits for a replacement job on Friday when I get paid.
Thanks for the info and quick reply! I’ll give it a go - fingers crossed.
Perhaps on the bushings front I’ll just go ahead and do do it (if seal saver doesn’t work) so at least it’s all done together then. As you say it will show some wear anyway due to the mileage.
When in Rome and all that…
So today after getting home a ride I noticed I have quite a leaky front left fork.
I was going to try a seal mate but I think with the amount of oil on there it’s a replacement job regardless. I’ve attached a pic from earlier and I suspect any replies will be along the lines of that’s well...
Washed the bike today along with some other bits;
replaced the Oxford heated grips with some new ones - noting they are not upside down now :)
Fixed my issue with my rear brake light / cable. Now working perfectly again.
Cleaned under the seat around the battery and wiring - out of sight but...
