Another Sunday, another clean. Ready for some riding tomorrow. 7 year old bike that’s pretty much lived outside and been used year round (especially by me). Some parts still come up real nice, other parts show their age and weathering and could probably use some TLC or replacing, but at least it’s not causing issue :)

What a faff…
Last year some point I put an aftermarket exhaust on. What I didn’t do was put new gaskets in (oops).

A few weeks ago I took the exhaust back off to put new gaskets in and in doing so one of the bolts snapped off the stud leaving me with a broken stud and 7 fine ones.

I added new studs to the other 7 and new bolts, everything sat flush as I needed to commute. No signs of leak or noise. all running fine.

Knowing I had that issue, I didn’t want to leave it as such so fast.

What I did today:
exhaust back off, stud removal tool arrived which worked like a dream. Old stud out and new one in.

New gaskets fitted (again), now with 8/8 studs all intact, bolts torqued etc.

All in all with various bits and bobs to faff with, including the original exhaust install, I’ve probably sunk 16 hours of labour just into this exhaust system…

Next bike I get it’s staying with what it has lol

Link please?
I used this one. I would say while it worked perfectly, I also tried to disconnect the old studs from the old nuts to salvage them after I put new ones in, but after a couple of uses it seemed to just match the thread and unscrew so long term quality isn’t great, but it got me out of a jam for £15

Also the stud I was removing was sticking out rather than snapped flush so I could get a good grip on it

Got round to buying a Honda seat cowl and fitting it.
Chuffed that my cordless tyre inflator and puncture repair stuff fits under the seat

today I decided to do a couple of things I’ve been putting off (for no reason other than wanting to ride instead)

1) new clutch cable. Not sure it was strictly needed but it was a bit catchy and it feels like I was running out of room for adjustments etc. new cable feels way more smooth so far. Needs a good test run.

2) changed my brake fluid… thing it was needed looking at the colour of this!

Next job maybe tomorrow is a coolant change / flush.
