    Accessing rear brake light cable

I’ll give it another going at. Wd40 seemed to help let me move things around, but I’ve also ordered a new switch and spring which will hopefully be here this weekend. Same time I think I’ll give the whole area a thorough clean etc. when it’s dismantled.. Fingers crossed! While it’s...

    Accessing rear brake light cable

Hmm so I tried adjusting it, seemed almost seized. Unscrewed the rear set to access it. Managed to adjust it and then spent the next 2 hours adjusting it back and forth. Think I may have a shagged wire / something loose as no matter what I did, either it wouldn’t come on or it stayed on but if...

    Accessing rear brake light cable

Thanks Brammers. I’ll take another look before removing everything then

    Accessing rear brake light cable

Before I start buying random sized bits, does anyone know the size of the heads needed to remove the plate to access the wiring to adjust the rear brake light? I’m having an issue where either it’s always on, on too late, or flickers. I’ve seen the nut that I need to adjust for when it comes...

All 650's What did you do with your 650 today?

Needed a new chain due to a blown ring, so put in a new did gold chain, jt front sprocket and a supersprox rear so it’s all done in one rather than a new chain on used sprockets. Was a good opportunity then to re re-grease and re-torque various parts and try to give it a clean in the process...

All 650's What did you do with your 650 today?

Came like it :( It’s on my list. They are also pretty worn so I want to replace. The left one barely works either. They are VERY glued on from a previous keeper. Might need to slice them off for replacement. But will try putting them on 100% heat and twisting to see if they loosen at all…...

All 650's What did you do with your 650 today?

Gave it a wash today and a coat of XCP rust blocker clear coat. Was long overdue.. hadn’t given it a proper wash in a few months other than the usual chain clean and lube. Hopefully this costing of XCP will see me through most of winter riding but will aim to do it again on milder dry days.

CB650R Task list / shopping list

noted thanks. I have an air filter now to put in when I next get the opportunity. I still haven’t done the clutch cable but with a bit of adjustment with the new levers I’ve had no issues but still on my to do list. I’ll check out the water pump at the same time as doing the air filter

CB650R Task list / shopping list

Sorry if this has been covered, I seem to be pretty rubbish at searching.. I bought my CB650R 2019 used back in May and have slowly been doing things to it to bring it up to a better standard. It was an ex school bike but for the price when comparing to similar age / mileage it seemed like a...

All 650's What did you do with your 650 today?

Today i: - put some new ASV levers on replacing the aftermarket Ali express special ones that came with the bike. They were loose, wobbly and taped up from breakages. The ASV’s are quality, sturdy and feel amazing by comparison - adjusted my clutch to ensure I was getting the right level of...

CBR650R Major Misfire at 8000 rpm exactly. power cuts in our aggressively.

Following… I had a similar issue where it just seemed to shut off in 6th at around 8k almost as if I had hit a limiter but I didn’t get a TCS light or engine light or anything. Could continue riding as normal after it. Mines a 2019 cb650r but wondering if it’s a safety / sensor thing. Few...

    CB650R Limited speed?

I haven’t, but I shall follow on that as well. I still haven’t had the chance to have a poke around the bike and see some mentions in that thread of things to check. Thanks for linking

    CB650R Limited speed?

Update, I redid the test. Turns out it’s around 8km rpm not 6. And it pulled a little more but I guess with various factors such as wind, rider weight etc. it’s never going to be a perfect test. Wonder if that sounds more akin to what it should be?

    CB650R Limited speed?

Wondering if it would potentially be the different sprockets / teeth numbers. When it’s a bit clearer outside here I’ll try and dig around on the bike. A better way to describe it would almost be if you set your limiter on a car to say 70mph. It reaches that point then it just stops doing...

    CB650R Limited speed?

That is quite a difference. I wonder if it’s more along the lines of 5th to keep pulling and 6th to cruise where you are because of the gearing / ratios / isn’t 6th the “overdrive”?

    CB650R Limited speed?

Had an opportunity to take the bike on a long straight ish run to get the speed up. For info it’s a cb650r 2019. Granted being a cb650r this is rare and it’s not like for general road riding and commuting will be the case. When I got into 6th gear, at 116mph and 6k rpm it just stopped pulling...

    CB650R New here

Hello I’ve been a lurker here for a while trying to read all sorts. From the U.K. and got my full A back in March after a cold winter of DAS around January and February. First bike is the CB650R 2019 model. Bought it used with 25k miles on the clock in May 2025. As we approach October I’ve...
