Akra looks nice. But those pipes will be a pain to maintain the shiney glow. Trying to get weight and performance numbers for the Moriwaki. The plan for the bike will be a blacked out look. šŸ˜šŸ˜
itā€™s not too bad. after every ride I rub them clean with a cotton cloth and 96% alcohol. maybe during the winter break Iā€™ll take off the headers and polish them on the polishing machine. Itā€™s very easy with Akra, everything is secured with springs and I can leave the flanges in place, so you do not have to replace the exhaust gaskets šŸ˜

Hi! My Akrapovic system for CBR650R 2020 has arrived and installed.

I went with a S-H6R11-AFT system.

What I found is that without baffle the sound has a very nice bass and throaty flavor , but too loud for my ears. I don't like earplugs, as when I wear it , the sound is the same as stock for me =)

When baffle is inserted - I got the bass almost gone. It is still better than stock , but not so great.

I'have seen that people modify inner part of the bafle with cuts/holes. My baffle insert is shorted , than at other Akra models.

I think to cut out completely the inner part. Do you think I will get the sound that I want? More bass but still not so high DB?

I think the ā€œbassā€ sound cones from the larger opening you have with the db killer removed. If you want to try cutting, Iā€™d start with a lot less and do it maybe 15-20mm at a time rather than take the big chunk out all at once. You may find what you want at the middle point In the bend.

The whole inner part of pipe is 35 mm. So I can cut it all or half.

What Miweber929 said, the low bass sound comes with the larger opening (db out) if you cut the bend you will get more sound and a little more bass, but not the full potential. So if you cut the bend like 20mm youā€™re about in the middle of the sound range. Good luck Fstep87 šŸ‘

The measurements I gave you were just an approximation, wasn't based on anything. If itā€™s easy to cut, do it 5mm increments, itā€™s whatever you want to try. Iā€™m just saying if you cut it all, youā€™re done if you donā€™t like it.

Iā€™d personally leave it and get used to it as is.

Drill few holes on the plate connecting both side of the baffle. Start with two and will get what you want.
Cheers

Is that what you did FogDucker @FogDucker ? Thinking of doing the same.
I have seen ppl doing it. but if you wanna spend a little more money to have a clean job, go and buy a Catalytic Converter built for EU Markets. its like 120 bucks or something. you wont need your silencer anymore. it will give you a moderate grunting sound. it will be good for environment too (in case you still have your PAIR VALVE system working).

The cat doesn't work with the S-H6R11-AFT system unfortunately

Cut the baffle with 3x iterations, but sound almost not changed.May be became little bit louder, but the same tone.

Thank you for all advices.

Finally, after all the tests took it out and testing different ear plugs :)

See post #6 https://650f.bike/threads/akrapovic-exhaust-model-advise.672/

It only first the 12 and 13 variations. The 11 is the "race" model which wasn't designed to fit the cat.
I will ask Akra tmr. This is almost impossible from manufacturing prospective. Have you tried and failed? Have you seen anyone who tried and failed to fit this in? Being a ā€œraceā€ model has nothing to do with what we are discussing. All these akra exhaust cans come with the exact same design and diameter. I will be quite surprised if this doesnā€™t fit.

Ask akra and you'll get the answer.

The 11 is not made to meet ec and ece regulations and doesn't have the space to fit the cat. The 12, 13 & 14 are made to be ec and ece compliant which needs the cat and is to be bought separately.

I have the 11 and the cat is not compatible with this unit.

This. Back a few years they has compliant and non-compliant units for the F that either would or wouldnā€™t take the cat, the 4 outlet ones would if I remember right, the single outlet like I had would not.

Now they only have 1 for the F and one for the R and the R unit specifically states not compatible with their cat:

I modified the db killer, so the sound is in between db out and in. I made the db killer removable.

How would you guys go about making this DB killer less effective? It's the one in the Arrow system. I've bought a spare to experiment with. Would simply drilling more holes suffice?
The reason I'm asking is that without DB killer the sound is a bit too much and with the DB killer inserted it's way too silent (can't really hear the engine past 100km/h, it's all wind noise at that point).
Tips or tricks? Thanks.

I would start with drilling more holes. If the holes donā€™t get the desired result I would make it a little shorter and leave it open at the back end. Good luck šŸ‘
