For track duty, the best tires I have tried are the Dunlop Q4. Exceptional grip, fast warm-up, great front end feel. I wouldn't use them on the street.

That being said, the last two sets of tires I've bought for the track have been Bridgestone RS10. They have about 90% of the grip of the Q4 at 70% of the price, they last longer, and have even better front end feel. I really, really like them. They're not terrible for the street (they are the factory tires for the H2, R1M and CBR1000RR SP), but can be sketchy in the wet and I don't think they last long enough to make them practical for street tires.

I've also used the Dunlop Q3+, and it's a good tire that sits below the RS10 for grip and feel, but lasts longer and is better in the wet. I think the Q3+ is an excellent tire for track/street duty.

Finally, my day-to-day tires are Bridgestone T31s. I've ridden on them in the rain, hail, in snow, and on many mornings below freezing. They get to temp quick and are much, much better than the stock tires in the cold. Compared to the tires above, they're nothing special in terms of grip or feel, but they're decent commuter tires that have decent edge grip when leaned over. I can't say they'd be any better than any of the other sport-touring tires from Michelin, Metzler, Pirelli, etc.. and considering I only have them on for a few months in the winter, I'll probably have these tires for about 10 years before I wear them out to try another option.

Anyone experienced the Roadtec 01 SE tires? almost with 20k km with my stock roadtec 01, time for something new, i dont need this touring focused tires, looking for some sporty-touring, but missing feedback on the “new” 01 SE from meltzeler
This is last fall. I almost got 16K out of my stock Roadtec 01 rear tire but suffered a puncture that tore a slice about an inch in long. I have no idea what caused it but I was out of cell range so had to go about 20 Km to get a signal. The tire was almost shredded but the rim was not damaged and CAA the Canadian auto club sent a truck with a proper motorcycle trailer so I was really impressed. The dealer had a Roadtec 01 SE instock or I would’ve had to wait for something else. Initial feeling (about 800Km) is that it’s a much better tire than the original and the tread pattern is improved. I lean to use all the tread for regular riding but if you lean further to take it to the edge it is a solid tread for grip when you need it. This I think works better than the original as who leans to the edge in the rain. I don’t track and don’t have anything else to compare to as others have posted, so take it as it is.
I will be looking into Pirelli Angel GT 2 when I swap out both the front and back.

I just bought a set of Bridgestone T32 GT‘s to replace the Michelin Pilot Road 5 (non GT) tires I had on my Sprint GT. The PR5s are definitely a step above the PR4 GTs I had on the bike originally in both life and dry weather grip, and to me were as good in the wet as the 4s were so it was a win-win to go 5s. The only reason I didn’t do the 5s again was because both the PR4 and PR5 tires wore strange after I got past 5,000 two-up SPORT touring miles on them with the typical cupping in the front I’ve come to expect based on my riding style. But they scalloped in the rear, as well as had a strange flat spot in the front on the sides as I made it past 6,000 on them and got kind of noisy when riding. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a heavy bike, I’m heavy and ride two up with luggage a lot and would have better wear on the PR5 GTs but my dad is not heavy and had a set of 5s on his FZ1 and they wore the same way. It was weird, and looking around forums and Facebook groups it was not uncommon wear.

I looked at Dunlop Roadsmart IVs, the Angel GT II (been hearing a lot of people prefer the original GT because the IIs follow road grooves and are noisy), the M9 RRs, and something else I don’t remember and settled on the T32s. I’ll see how they go once I get them mounted up and put a few miles on them. It’s still winter here so it’s a couple months out yet.

New '21 CB650R, OEM equipped with the Dunlop D214s. I only have a few hundred miles on them but I already don't like them. I'll likely replace them later this spring with a set of Conti SportAttack 4s which I haven't seen mentioned here yet. Can anyone confirm my impressions of the D214s, and anyone with any experience with the SportAttack 4s?

For me, its definitely the Pirelli Supercorsa SP1 (Front) & SP2 (Rear) V3
- Feels much much much lighter and easy to turns compared to Rosso Corsa II and Rosso III. For track use is super awesome, very flickable, totally in another league.
- SP1 uses softer compound compared to SP2
- Yes it is expensive. Here a photo after 2,246 km

My q3+ Dunlops are shot now. Loved the tires, but this time around I'm switching it up, partly out of curiosity and partly for economic reasons. I've ordered Dunlop RoadSport II front and rear. Fantastic price, and by all accounts a great street tire that performs beyond it's price point.

Can anyone confirm my impressions of the D214s,
There are MANY people on this forum and other groups that are not the most fond of the OEM D214s especially those that push hard, so search a bit and you’ll see lots of feedback stating that. My opinion was they are not awful like a lot of the OEM Honda tires were (NC700X, Grom, CBR600RR are a few I experienced) but if you push them they lack feel and overall grip at the edges of traction.

I do not have any experience with the Continental model you mentioned and it’s been years since I’ve run their tires (I ran a SportAttack on the front and a RoadAttack on the rear of a CBR954RR for a few seasons that was a good combo) but have been running the Michelin Pilot Power 5s (not to be confused with the Pilot Road 5s) now for a few seasons on the SuperSport with much success, one of my all time favorite sport tires. I only gave a few thousand miles on them but they work very well and are lasting which is great news.

My dad is running a set of Metzler M7RRs on his FZ1 and really likes them as well, so I’d also suggest looking at the M9RRs for a street bike. I almost bought a set for the Triumph a few weeks ago but they seemed more aggressive than that bike is ridden and I worried the weight of that heavy bike would burn them out quickly so I bought a set of Bridgestone T32 GTs I’ll mount in the spring on it.

What are your riding plans for the bike, the track, travel, street, commute, rain, sunny days, canyons? We can help with tires based on that.

I’d also recommend reading lots of user tire reviews with whatever you decide. I planned to go with a set of Angel GT IIs or Dunlop Roadsmart IVs for the Triumph until I read user reviews about both of them which made me look elsewhere. Just remember reviews are always going yo be a 50/50 love hate thing but if you see a pattern in reviews you’ll know there may be an issue.

Here's the tires I've tried in two years commuting/road triping.

Angel GT II (26k kms) : I liked them, good grip in the wet/mud/salt and they have worn well.
Roadtec 01 (28k kms) : I didn't like them, good grip in the wet and shit but they are too flat and the bike felt heavy. Which got worse over time required pushing harder to get any angle and felt like I was falling right after.
Diablo Rosso III : I've done 500km since I got them last week and I like them ! Bike feel so nimble after the Roadtec set. Still not pushed them because of the weather.

On the 500F's wife :
Pilot Power : I've put them when I got the 650F and give her the 500 (previously mounted with a set of Angel GT II). She like them, they are nice for the countryside riding/gentle hooning and occasionnal trackday. I take the 500 when the 650 is serviced and I like them too.

Finally got around to getting some new tyres now winter is supposedly breaking here in the UK, I ended going for Angel GT. Reviews seem to suggest they are good in the dry and wet, and unlike the II's don't tramline. I'm no hero on the bike having returned after many years so I don't think I'll get near the limits of these tyres.

Cheers all

Been on Diablo rosso III for 2 sets already
The other day I’ve been to cycle gear and compared the carcass stiffness of different tires and found that Michelin are softer compared to Pirelli

Next time I’ll definitely try Michelin pilot power 2CT since they gave me a great feeling when I installed them on my friend’s bike
It’s a different bike, but it’s the second softer carcass on 2 other different bikes that I’ve tried (also Dunlop) that I found to better suit my riding style

I’ll probably get lower mileage than the Pirelli, but if the feeling is as expected, I’ll take the trade off without hesitation

I also do mostly sport riding so I don’t really care about great mileage

If you’re looking for a sportier tire with a great feel I’d suggest the Pilot Power 5 (not the Road 5) over the 2CT which is a design that dates back to 2009. The 2CTs are cheaper but the Powers are a better tire.

Yeah it’s an old tire
I’ve also considered the pilot power 5
If ever have the chance to test the stiffness, and it’s softer than I’ll give it a try

Decided to drop some coin and try the new Power Cup 2. I've heard great things, so I figured to give them a shot and see how they compare to the Q4, and will report later in the season after some track days with my impressions.

Just put on a set of Dunlop Mutants M+S. So far bloomin' marvellous. Very good in the wet and dry grip is excellent. Not done many miles on them so can't comment on wear but if they last ok then I'll definitely be buying again.

Curious to hear of any Road6 experiences.
I just excahaged the T32s I bought for a set of Road 6 GTs for the Triumph, but unfortunately it’s still winter here in Minnesota so it’ll be a while before I can use them.

Hi all, I appreciate there is a locked thread about tyres, but two years is a long time in tyre development and a forum should be about discussion, not searching,,, With that in mind, what are the 2021 tyre recommendations people have? I'm due for a new front and rear and fancy something a with a little more grip. I only really ride on the dry unless caught out (as we are often in the UK!)
I do a bit of commuting, but enjoy the bends as much as the next guy.
Cheers all
