Has anyone weighed a standard exhaust
The vibrations are there, around 6000 rpm. I partly solved it with the Grip Puppies over-grips, the best! Then I'll move on to the rubber footboards, bye.Hi,
Does anyone else notice high frequency vibration on their bikes?
I found it to be quite intrusive when accelerating hard which is strange as when I had a test ride on another bike a few days before I didn't notice it.
The test bike was fitted with a Yoshimura full system so may be that helped with the vibes?
Ordered some grip puppies today, I dont know if it was them temperature or that I haven't ridden in 5 years but my hands were cramping on the stock grips. I also ordered a throttle rocker/cramp buster. The stock rubber footboards look ugly. The vibrations are there, around 6000 rpm. I partly solved it with the Grip Puppies over-grips, the best! I'm sorry ... they partially solved me. the platforms purchased on Aliexpress.
What have you done to remedy them? And what have you swapped or modified on your bike, anything that could increase vibrations? Have they gotten better as time has gone on or changed in any way? After a recent 2400kms road trip and over 11000kms on the bike, the vibrations in mine persist. Those coming through the handlebars are tolerable, albeit annoying when touring. But, the resonant frequency that makes the entire bike shake hasn't dissipated over the life of the bike and is beyond annoying (though it is a bit funny to mess with my girl from time to time when shes with me). I like the bike, and I know I can "ride around" these vibrations, but i don't think I should have to. It's one of the reasons I will be looking to move to a new platform later this year.
Thanks for your experience. I too have a neuropathy problem in the peripheral limbs, (non-curable syndrome) which causes numbness in my hands even when tightening shopping bags, or cutting with scissors! But the fact remains that the CBR vibrates a lot.Off topic, but do you have any issues with general numbness in the hands when not on the CBR650R? Reason I ask is that I recently found out my numbness was a carpal tunnel issue. The CBR would make my hands incredibly numb in 30-40mins. I thought it was just the bike, but mentioned it in a physical and found that I had moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. Got it treated and now the vibration doesn't bother my hands in the slightest bit. It's night and day difference! Just a thought.
Mostly attempted to adjust my riding so I don't experience them as often. The changes on the bike are done at the tail and everything is secured, the exhaust which has neither increased or decreased vibrations, engine cases to the cb650f ones, and cb650f pegs. The vibrations have been constant and consistent from about 12kms when I picked it up, much as I can remember. I've held on because enough people said they'd dissipate after 4000-6000kms and I'd enjoy it more. What have you done to remedy them? If I had vibrations that I couldn’t get rid of the first thing I’d do is a full retorted of the engine mounts, then I’d start looking into things like exhaust mounts, and mods I’ve done to bars, pegs, brakes, fender eliminators, etc. that are vibrating or could. Have you tired a set of 650F pegs with the rubber inserts?
I’m not saying you don’t have an issue or shouldn’t move on, just asking what you’ve done to minimize them. A 4 cylinder will be buzzy and vibe, especially one built like this one is. You may want to look at another engine config for your next bike.
As for me, the answer is no. Carpal tunnel is probably creeping on me, though. I ride my friends Speed Twin or CRF1100 with no issue at all and my old Ninja never gave me this sort of issue.Off topic, but do you have any issues with general numbness in the hands when not on the CBR650R? Sounds like you’ve been working on a few things, doing pretty much what has been suggested. My 650 started “smoothing out” around the 2500 mile mark and really smoothed out past the 3500 mile mark, but was still a buzzy 4 cylinder all the time I owned it. I sold it not too far after that so I’m not sure if by 6,000 or 8,000 it was any better.Mostly attempted to adjust my riding so I don't experience them as often. The Ive had two dealerships look the bike all over and they've had no idea what I could be feeling. Riding my friend's 650r is nearly identical. The entire bike shakes. It's honestly most annoying that I feel it on my inner thighs, like those plastic inserts below the tank, but they're secured in their rubber isolators.
The CB400SF and CB1300 that I rode didnt appear to have the issues this has, both being I4s as well. But I only rode them about 100kms total as rentals. I'm looking at a Triumph as my next bike at the moment, but, we'll see.
