Learned in 1969 on a Yamaha DT 250 in backwoods and open fields. Had the K2 listed below for 10 years, 3 engines. V-65 Magna for another 10 after that, carless for over 20 years. Totaled the Yamaha RD 350 as well as the V-65 Sabre. Sold bikes #6-9 to move to Thailand and bought the 650 while I was in quarantine. Never owned a cruiser or HD, going to tour Thailand on the 650. Miles? Hundreds of thousands, many more to go. I'll be 68 in a few weeks.

I started out on an l2ca in Australia, than went to a DT250 when I was working for Yamaha. A good friend had a RD 350 and let me ride it often. I also moved to Thailand about 20 years ago and I am happy that I am here right now. The virus is bad where I live with the hospital being full and 2 field hospitals almost full.

Im 71 and just bought a new CB650R. I have been riding bikes since I was 15, that makes it 56 years. Where has that time gone????
Had lots of bikes over the years, starting in the mid 60s with Triumph Trophies and Bonnevilles. Honda CB750 (everyone had one of those) Kawasaki 900s and latest was a Triumph Thunderbird Storm, awesome bike but too big and heavy for me now. I am hoping I will like the CB650R, they are a restricted bike in Australia but I have already ordered the inlet stacks to get the correct power from the bike. A reflash and it should be good to go.

When do we ever stop riding? A t 74 you would think soon but I feel better now than I did when I was in my forty"s..Just last week I felt like a pizza so I got on my bike and rode over 100km for a pizza. But the ride was through the hills, and a most enjoyable trip. I guess one day we will be too old to ride but it's not here yet at least for me.

I think as long you’re mentally and physically okay, you can ride for a long long time. Yeah your strength is going down when you get older but you can compensate it with a less powerful and lighter bike (for everyone that time comes at a different age). In my opinion the physical stuff is easy to notice, it’s the mental aspect you need to keep a close eye on, this is something that is (most of the time) a slow and unnoticed process, it slowly takes over. For instance the slower reaction time is a think to always be aware of. A couple of weeks ago I met a guy during a ride and we both stopped at the same place. During the short time I spent riding behind him, nothing seems out of place, he was riding just fine (maybe a bit slow). We talked about the bikes and he told me he was 81 years old and still had a lot of pleasure riding (he looked younger). Physically he looked still fit but I noticed during the conversation he was a bit slower in finding the right words and also his awareness of the things that happen around him. He was telling me that he was taking it slow and easy because he wasn’t the youngest anymore. Afterwards I was thinking, when do we realize it’s time to stop riding!

I'm 64. Got my Australian licence mid 1970's. Owned lots of bikes from a Bridgestone 90 to an FJR1300. Presently have a C50 Boulevard G4TR Kawasaki 100 and my new CB650r. I don't commute but enjoy over nighting and the odd long tour. The little CB is a great day ride and loves a a bit of cornering and mountain work. Looking at de restricting it at some time. Have the air tubes, just deciding where to go from there.
