General Info

July 2021 bike in Red.
2 previous keepers in 8 months and a whole 224 miles!
Mint!
Loving it!
First big bike after a Suzuki GSX-S125 for 18 months, passed test in Jan!

Style & Safety Mods

Quadlock stem mount with Anti Virbration mount abs Weatherproof Wireless Charging head and Iohone X case.

Tail tidy (recommendations and pictures welcome).

Trying to work out if I want to de sticker it and go for plain red!
Honda stickers on belly pan are definitely going as Due to the viewing angle I can see a white edge where the vinyl is cut so the red surface of the sticker doesn’t blend into the red paint!
Opinions welcome!

Performance / Handling Mods

Quickshifter OEM should be today 😀

Luggage / Convenience Mods

Will need luggage on the bike soon with trips to MotoGP in Assen and a two week European tour to MotoGP Red Bull Ring also planned.

Plans / Wishlist

Will be doing a track day later this year with some expert one to one instruction!

Comments

Quickshifter now fitted and working a treat.

First service done at Vertu Honda, Grantham, while I waited. Nice chat with a couple of lovely customers while I was there, nice coffee and biscuits and excellent customer service, free neck warmer and joined their motorcycle club for events and discounts.
Excellent all round.

Just Bought the JTech tail
Tidy which looks pretty close to the evotech one in looks at a third of the price!

I will post pictures and my thoughts when I fit it.

Cheers,

Next Mod done is a Tail Tidy!
Couldn’t justify the extortionate cost of the recommended EvoTech item but didn’t like the look of the dirt cheap ones that don’t bring the indicators back in tight to the rear light so selected the JTech one and generally very impressed.
It’s a very nicely packed box with everything you need, quality feel and fit and very close to the Evotech look with the stock indicators close in to the tail light and a tiny bit good number plate light included.
A few more details in the instructions like removing the knee grip panels first before removing the seat side panels and the plastic push rivets need the centre pin pushing back out from inside the under seat area to release them easily would have been useful but generally they’re pretty good too.

I didn’t like the not very watertight bullet connectors adapting the number plate light cable to the Honda plug so improved that joint with some extra heat shrink and a couple of cable ties.

Also the number plate light fixed bolts are overlong and quite visible after fitting so these got hacksawed shorter and touched in on satin black to tidy up a bit. Also wasn’t happy with no my lock nuts of grip washers to stop the tiny nuts from coming loose so coated the bolts with thread lock when fitting.
The other minor criticism is the number plate light Adaptor comes from J Tech with an Orange plug which matches the left indicator colour whereas the original hands light has a white plug which may confuse some. Just remember the number plate light connector Orange connects to the white socket and it will work.
Also J Tech please mention that the Adaptor Orange Wire connects to the red number plate wire rather than just if it doesn’t work swap then round!
(And the green wire connect to the black).

Other than that it’s a great bit of kit for £50 rather than £150!!

Final Bonus is the weight of the stock number plate hanger without indicators was 1111g
Weight of the JTech one without indicators was 555 grams so the new one is 556 grams lighter.1/2 the weight of the stock part and 1/2 kg saved just on the hanger!

I have a show plate on there but the clearance to the back wheel I think would be fine with a standard size plate.

Anyone else fancy using the JTech one I can heartily recommend it.

Any questions or comments feel free.

Yes it’s under the seat and shouldn’t get too wet but what’s an extra couple of bits of heat shrink and two tie wraps cost?

Also the number plate light fixed bolts are overlong and quite visible after fitting so these got hacksawed shorter and touched up in satin black to tidy up a bit.
Wasn’t happy with no nylock nuts or grip washers to stop the tiny nuts from coming loose so coated the bolts with thread lock when fitting.

Hi

Yes I like it but the 21 bike get the black/white stripe down the side of the tank not the top like yours and those are sealed in with the lacquer so cant be removed without a complete tank repaint. think this might look odd with the rest removed viewed from the side. I have only so far removed the "Honda" stickers from the belly pan that you left on and that took a huge amount of polishing to get rid of the adhesive. Perhaps need to get some isopropyl alcohol to make this easier. They irritated me as viewed near the bike I could see a thin white outline where the vinyl was cut and the base vinyl was white not red like the paint behind.

Still in two minds at the moment.

Probably need to see a 21 or 22 bike done to make my mind up or do some photo editing!

I completely understand what you mean with the tank ,wish I could have removed mine ,
I use a hair dryer to remove mine and then use wd40 for any excess glue works a treat

Ordered my next accessory.
OEM high smoked screen, looks good and was quite cheap (£53.46 from my local Honda dealer via EBay) Compared to the Puig aftermarket ones and I prefer the look.
