Exactly, well said, and that is helped by not shaking the handlebars to see what happens.

That doesn't make sense. I did more than 13,000miles on my cb650f in about 12 months of actual riding before I sold it- that isn't theoretical motorcycling .

If you regularly ride around at 100mph+ in this country you won't need to worry about a steering damper, or anything about the bike for that matter, for a while at least depending how long the ban lasts ! I would slow down a bit anyway until the problem is identified and sorted .
