So I'm up for a new set of tyres and called my dealership to inform what they had in stock and what they could order. Unfortunately, their stock was pretty limited and they said they were having trouble getting resupplied.
My bike is currently running Bridgestone BT023 tyres, and I wanted to try out the successor of those tyres (T30 EVO's) but they couldn't get their hands on them. Even T31's were difficult. T32's were still in stock but barely so. Michelin Pilot Road 5's were still available but not 6. Because T32's (and the Michelins) were significantly more expensive than BT023's (and T30 EVO's) I opted for a new set of BT023 tyres.
Anyway, is this something more people are experiencing? Is it a global issue? I actually heard Chris Eades (from YouTube channel 44teeth) mention something similar. He also said an important source material used in tyres is primarily made in Russia and the war with Ukraine is causing problems there. I'm not sure how trustworthy he is in that regard but it sounds like a not too crazy thing.
So maybe it is a good idea to buy a new set of tyres now even if you won't need them for another half year or so.
