I recently got aftermarket full exhaust for my 2016 honda cbr650f. Do I need to tune it? I heard the engine will run lean and get damaged if not. I did buy a dynojet commander 6, but I woudl have to learn how to tune with that.

Did you keep the O2 sensor plugged in after tuning? How’s the fuel economy?

Got a full exhaust without tune, no issues. I am planning a dyno thou, not to add max power but to smoothen the usability as much as possible. CB650R has a little dip on the torque curve around 5-6k, would prefer it not to do that.

I have a 16 650f and am going to install a aftermarket exhaust as well. Was wondering if I got the commander 6 how do you map it to the right performance. Do I have to send it in to a tune shop or does it do it automatically? Not too familiar with that. It’s also has 27k miles but well maintained. Also if anyone knows when I should have my clearance on my lifter should be adjusted.

You need the map built on a dyno at a shop.

You can get an auto tuner module for the power commander... But it doesn't do as good of a job as a shop would.

Valve clearance checks are every 16k, with adjustment at 32k.

Grab the service manual from resources section... It has all that kind of information in there.
