Nice that is going to be my setup as well. How was the install? Did you need to remove the nut or does it have a plastic cover or something?
Very simple, took me about 30 mins to fit and route the cable to the usb C port under my seat. bit of a warning, you may want topurchase this adapter https://tinyurl.com/5ckksebn the quad lock cable while long enough is a USB C to USB 3.0 Male. I connected that amazon cable and used water proof tape to seal it fromthe elements.

The stem cap that comes with the CBR650R is just a plastic cover, its fairly tight but an adjustable pliers and a rag (so not to mark the plastics) should do the trick.

Not sure if any of y'all are aware, but just in case:

TLDR; Apple warns against mounting iPhones to rigid (undampened) mounts, as the high frequency vibes fucks with the OIS in the camera.

I never had issues with it, but I don't have a new IPhone. They also sell vibration dampeners if U want to be sure.

So, the quadlock stem mount arrived pretty fast and is installed.
Installation is very easy and only takes about 10 minutes.
The quality seems good, and it feels really solid once installed.
The phone case also fits very well.

I'll post some pictures below.
And yes, I paid €10 extra just for the red accent. 🤷‍♂️😁. Standard is blue, there is also a black or white version.

Hi,

Off to collect my 21 Plate CBR650R tomorrow and already have the Quadlock Stem Mount and phone case dampener and Wireless Charger setup from my old bike.
Did you use the larger metal dogs for the CBR Stem or the smaller ones ? would allow me to set it up ready to screw straight in for Satnav home!

Thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian

I don't remember witch ones, but I think I used the larger ones.
Here are some pictures of the piece I did NOT use. Hope this helps you out.

The other piece is installed so a bit more difficult to take a picture ;).

Yea I used the larger one. You will know once you take the plastic cap off and eyeball the hole.

Thanks for that,

Was indeed the larger one, obvious once I saw it, also correct there.
Got me back to roads I know and just fitted the power lead under the seat then under the tank and router d with a lid of other cable up to the wireless charging head so all set up nicely now!

Thanks

IPhone X onwards I believe.
Added a Vibration dampener and a wireless head when my iPhone X stopped working on the plugged in cable for power every though I hadn’t had problems on my old 125 as I knew I was getting a bigger bike which I picked up yesterday.
My son has had to have IPhone 11 and 12 cameras fixed after the OIs failed after brief rides on his DucatiI
He got away with warranty claims but Apple are now aware and may reject claims especially if you turn up in your leathers!

Same setup as me (although im riding a Honda not a Ducati :D)
especially if you turn up in your leathers!
Discrimination! :D

Hi, am new to this forum and was also researching about SP Connect stem mount for my CBR650R.

Just wanted to share my experience with you all as I had decided to take the plunge on the SP Connect despite not much info on it.

Got my SP Connect today and just installed it. Was super easy to take the stem plastic cap off, just cut a clothes hanger and pushed it out from the bottom.

Screwed it in and the stem mount fits perfectly and snug, the angle of the holder is still adjustable. I bought the universal phone holder instead of a phone case and it holds the phone very sturdily and has built in vibration dampener.

If you use the universal phone holder the SP Connect Moto stem mount will 100% fit the CBR650R, no modification or extra parts required (like the bicycle stem version mentioned in earlier post).

If you use a dedicated phone case however, you may need the elongated bicycle stem version.

Added a few photos using a slightly larger phone (Samsung A10) as an example.

Cheers

Hi there!! My CBR650R is arriving next week and I've just bought the Quadlock Fork Stem mount and the Wireless charging head. I know my bike has a USB-C port under the seat, so probably will have to buy an adapter as you said, or a USB-C to USB-C cable, that's ok.

But would like to know if fitting and routing the cable from the under seat to the handlebar was difficult to do and, also, if any of you have pictures or any advice on how to do it properly.

Many thanks!!!

After one year or so my set up is still working fine!

I routed the quadlock cable along the right hand side of my 21' CBR650R, underneath the petrol tank and roughly cable tied it along were the existing loom is running to the front dash. When I got near the front yoke I ran it up to the wireless charge unit making sure there was enough slack while keeping the cable relatively hidden and neat.

You would really have to look hard to see the cable connect to the bottom of the wireless charger on the stem.

Just run the wire more or less where the existing wires are routed that way you know there will be maximum protection from the elements and heat of the bike.

You could use a USBC to USBC, I preferred the additional connector as I wanted to use the cable supplied by quadlock. I've had some cheap cables fail on me before and did not want to stick them on my bike :) also I like the idea of sticking the cloths hanger up the stem a previous poster mentioned. That's a good idea! I'd probably tape the end so I dont mistakenly stratch stuff

If you want to see how to lift the tank to get access it’s pretty simple and the video here where someone is fitting the Quickshifter shows how it’s done.
Routing is then easy.
I routed mine to the left side under the tank as there are wire hooks that keep cables organised and avoid them snagging the steering and cable tying to existing cables made a really neat and secure job.
I recommend an adapter from USB A Female to USB c male as the Quadlock cable is USB A but you need to use the Quadlock one as it has a seal built in that keeps water out of the connection to the wireless charging head.

The adapter I bought was a bit fiddly to push the usab A into but I put some large heat shrink and cable ties around each end to ensure it’s water sealed and it’s worked faultlessly.

EBay item number 153234151691

£2.10 if your in the UK.

Initially I installed the cable along the bottom left. Edge if the tank with tie wraps but when I fitted the Quickshifter I took the opportunity to reroute the cable under the tank to tidy it up and it’s a better way to do it.
Sadly I didn’t take pics under there.

If you have any form of modern IPhone make sure you have the vibration dampener as well or it will likely wreck the image stabiliser on the camera.
You can see one of the three rubber lugs highlighted on the first Pic.

8 minutes in shows how to access under the tank.

Ian Warren @Ian Warren I think that's more or less what I done alright, I went underneath the tank and tied it off along an existing cable run that was running of to the dash.

I had a lithium battery installed so had more space there I was able to move that bulky OEM usb c block in where the battery is and away from the tail to make more space.
