Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 2026 CBR650R with the E-Clutch. I'm posting this because I've been struggling to find clear information on whether I can switch to a reverse (GP-style) shift pattern on this specific model.

The reason I want to reverse the shifting is because previously rode a 2007 SV650S that had been modified with a reverse shift pattern by the previous owner. I got so used to that setup that I now prefer it. However, I want to make sure I don't buy parts that won't work with my new bike's E-Clutch system.

I've looked into a few rearset options, specifically from SATO Racing and Arashi, but I have a few specific concerns:

For the SATO rearsets, Part H-65019 RSR, which mentions "GP-style reverse shift pattern" for 2019-24 models. However, it doesn't explicitly list the 2026 E-Clutch models. On the other hand, Part H-65021RSQ mentions compatibility with E-Clutch models but does not mention the GP-style shifting pattern.
- Does anyone know if the reverse shift version (H-65019RSR) is safe to install on the 2026 E-Clutch model?
- Does the E-Clutch system rely on a specific lever position that would be disrupted by a GP shift conversion?

For Arashi rearsets, many listings mention these are compatible with GP shifting, but it's unclear if the kits themselves enable the reverse shift. I guess my question is if anyone can confirm that with this rearset installed, it enables me to reverse the shifting?

Finally, I saw a Reddit thread suggesting that reversing the shift pattern could "throw off" or disable the E-Clutch entirely. Is this true? Would installing a reverse shift rearset break the e-clutch functionality?

I'm just getting into modifying my bikes and would really appreciate any advice or insights from those who have done this on the E-Clutch models. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi everyone,

I can't seem to paste the link for the pages.

The reddit title is "QS not working with reverse (GP) shift" and the SATO Racing and Arashi Rearsets are just their website pages for the CBR650R. My apologies again for not hyperlinking them, I tried.

There have not been many, if any, people asking about this that I’ve seen here so you may want to reach out to the respective companies and see if they’ve looked into it or tested. Worth asking if they’ve attempted it.

I know it won’t work conventional or reverse shift if the rear sets are designed for quick shifter as the e clutch uses motors and sensors through the ECM module for precise shifting , and not conventional quick shifter . However if your using a standard shift arm to change gear all your doin is moving the position of the arm and shift knuckle / not sure if Sato do reverse without quick shifter but I’d stay away from arashi , mine went straight in the bin regards

Just a hunch but, bet you could just re-pin the QS on e-clutch so it works in reverse. And if you just flip the shift arms around it'll reverse the shifting anyway. Maybe worth investigating?
