Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 2026 CBR650R with the E-Clutch. I'm posting this because I've been struggling to find clear information on whether I can switch to a reverse (GP-style) shift pattern on this specific model.
The reason I want to reverse the shifting is because previously rode a 2007 SV650S that had been modified with a reverse shift pattern by the previous owner. I got so used to that setup that I now prefer it. However, I want to make sure I don't buy parts that won't work with my new bike's E-Clutch system.
I've looked into a few rearset options, specifically from SATO Racing and Arashi, but I have a few specific concerns:
For the SATO rearsets, Part H-65019 RSR, which mentions "GP-style reverse shift pattern" for 2019-24 models. However, it doesn't explicitly list the 2026 E-Clutch models. On the other hand, Part H-65021RSQ mentions compatibility with E-Clutch models but does not mention the GP-style shifting pattern.
- Does anyone know if the reverse shift version (H-65019RSR) is safe to install on the 2026 E-Clutch model?
- Does the E-Clutch system rely on a specific lever position that would be disrupted by a GP shift conversion?
For Arashi rearsets, many listings mention these are compatible with GP shifting, but it's unclear if the kits themselves enable the reverse shift. I guess my question is if anyone can confirm that with this rearset installed, it enables me to reverse the shifting?
Finally, I saw a Reddit thread suggesting that reversing the shift pattern could "throw off" or disable the E-Clutch entirely. Is this true? Would installing a reverse shift rearset break the e-clutch functionality?
I'm just getting into modifying my bikes and would really appreciate any advice or insights from those who have done this on the E-Clutch models. Thanks in advance for your help!
