You really should read the service manual chapter on the pgm-fi system before going further. Please, read it at least twice.
Glad to hear it’s sorted. As to the why it happened, what happened and why it’s better, it’s hard to say other than it’s obvious something wasn’t making a good connection and now is.The good news.
Thursday evening I left the bike with the battery disconnected. This morning I have reinstalled the battery connections. Reinstalled the PAIR system and WD40'd the plug. Reinstalled the airbox. Checked out the feeds to all the plugs with a multimeter. WD40'd all the plugs and refitted. The bike now runs as it should do. Tickover is around 1200rpm where it always was. it revs cleanly and no mil light on. Perfect. My thoughts are that@baugustine was on the right track with maybe a bad connection on the IACV and the WD40 has just cleaned it up a bit. I am interested in all your thoughts
