Started the bike today (cold north England) pgm fi warning light flashing when bike is on stand and solid when bike is in motion.

Brand new to bikes. Will speak to dealer tomorrow but any ideas on faults?

Update.....

Finished the night shift, started the bike and boom the engine light was out. Happy days.

I wonder if the below freezing temperatures made the light come on? It was above freezing this morning.

Going to speak to the dealers today.

Sounds good, freezing temperatures is new to me.Have i shown you my weather forecast yet?

If the flashing starts again ask honda for a list of error codes.

I will be starting it again in a few hours. It is 7 degrees today so pretty mild for a winters day haha.

Hopefully it is a temperature thing.

If it flashes today I will count the short and long glasses and update the post.

Safe riding

Started the bike today for nightshift. No warning lights. Went for 45 min spin through the lanes before work all firing fine.

Spoke to dealer and they said sometimes extreme cold (I live in the Lake District so it's freezing) it can throw a warning up if coolent is partially frozen.

He said any issues get in touch. Thinking I might need to put a little more antifreeze in the coolant.

Coolant partially frozen throwing an FI light? Oy, I’d find a new dealer......

Without having a code we are throwing darts at a wall here. If it was VERY cold it could simply be a parameter out of whack like a major drop in battery voltage throwing a sensor out of calibration, cranking longer than it anticipated (had my old Chevy truck do that on a -26 degree day a few years ago) or some other reading it wasn’t expecting.

I’d say if it starts and runs fine, you’re probably good but keep an eye on it if it happens again.

Quick update. Flashes came back tonight and it's been nowhere near freezing. 8 long flashes follwed by 6 quick flashes. Juddering when setting off but once warmer pulls fine. One thing I have noticed is there is alot more popping from exhaust when the engine light is on. This makes me believe its a fuel problem.

As I've said very inexperienced with bikes so any help, advice would be greatly appreciated.

8 long is a throttle positioning sensor code, but sub code 6 isn't in the service manual.

Check for a loose wire or loose sensor (screw missing etc.), if no joy and under warranty take it back to Honda.

I've read somewhere 8 and 6 can possibly be a battery problem. Emailed the dealer and will be following up with a phone call in the morning.

Not sure probably cars. I just need to go back to the dealers really. Bit of a pain as they're 100 miles away. Might take it to local garage to see if they can get a code from ecu

It happened the other day too but in the morning it was gone. So after work tonight it'll probably not Reading anything.
