Well, I can tell you that my recently sold CB650R, with 36kkm on the clock was on the original cogs and just on the 2nd chain. And they were still in very good condition! I'm not that picky as you might think, I just believe that lubing a dirty chain does not make sence, and apparently is essencial to make transmission last. Old socks are cheaper than a brush, witch I don´t even have! ;-)I must say I admire your patience and work to clean your chains with so many products... I really do!
I just use the synthetic Silkolene Chain Lube to clean and lube at the same time! 😅
It's dirty? Put lube, pass brush, lube more! It's dry? Put lube, pass brush, lube more! Wet from rain? Put lube, pass brush, lube more! 😂😂😂
Then I leave it overnight and next morning is butter smooth and ready to rev! 😁
However it seems I do it more often than you guys... 300km or 500Km (commuting). As soon as i feel it getting dry or looking shiny.
Lots of lube! 😆
Leaving it overnight does not take any additional work, it´s just a matter of doing it late in the day. Not difficult as it is usually the right time for me to do it. Saturday morning is the right time to ride, not to be on the garage ;-)
Riding the bike fast after lubing the chain, is a good way to wax your left shoe and licence plate ;-) LOL
There is a reason why I insist in doing this right. It´s because Hondas are so realiable that taking care of the chain, it´s one of the few tasks I have the opportunity to do. I never needed to do any repair on my 36k CB! Great motorcycle.
