It's the abs unit, it's a sod.
I've had luck by putting a syringe on the bleed nipple and sucking rather than pushing the fluid.
Also, push fluid backwards too... Sometimes that helps move the air pocket.

I think it's a 6mm or 8mm hex. It's been a while since I removed a rearset.
That said, the adjuster nut on the switch is nylon ... it's unlikely to be really stuck. Just grip the switch body with one hand and turn the nut with the other.

It's been a minute since I looked at the wiring diagram, but if it were me...
I'd check the ecu was getting a good signal from the vss, and then follow your thoughts of checking ecu to dash.
When testing are you giving the wires a good shake/vibrate them?

They do help. Especially if you're replacing older oem lines.
Ebc hh pads really do change the rear brake profile though. It actually can slow the bike.
