Hey guys,

What do you suggest for phone mount on my CBR650R? I'm not big fun of stem mount, do you have any other suggestions?

After so much deliberation I finally decided on the stem mount from RAM, with the short arm and x-grip. Bought all items separately but you can also buy a kit.

My two main reasons for the stem mount:

1. Didn’t want the hassle of changing cases like the quad lock requires, and I wouldn’t want the quad lock case on all the time.

2. Wanted something central and not off to the side on my handle bar, so it’s easy to see.

It is fully secure in the stem (can’t be pulled out), but it can be rotated by hand. This is actually quite handy because I might change the phone position on different rides. It stays in place and doesn’t move when riding, and my commute includes some bumpy cobbles!

My phone is an iPhone XR. In the best position I can glance down to see a map without much head movement. Phone sits up quite high but not above my double bubble windshield - prob would be fine for standard windshield too. Doesn’t interfere with dashboard.

I'm a huge fan of RAM mounts and have been using them for years. All my wheels have a RAM mount in/on them. Some of them are as old as 6 years and still going strong.

I wanted something centered and in the bubble and went with the stem mount kit on the CBR. Rode last weekend while it was raining and while riding, didn't get a single drop on the phone, until I stopped. That's an added bonus for mounting it in the bubble I guess.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. How much for one of these?
I get my CBR650R next week and want the centre mounted X Grip, as anything off centre plays havoc with my feng shui :D

Got the same setup on my '16 650F. Very happy with it. I also use it for my Garmin satnav. Swapping it with the X-Grip is done in 5 seconds. I don't use the Garmin a lot though, it's much more practical to use Google Maps on my phone for A to B navigation as I'm not stuck walking around with this satnav brick when I get to where I need to be. That's usually limited for touring with pre-planned routes.

I've used Ram, quadlock and the Rokform (2019 Cb650R) system and I have to say that my favorite is the Rokform albeit it is the most expensive.

The ram was inconvenient and required two hands to use. It would also rotate when riding more aggressively even when it was tightened all the way. I also hated the way it looked.

The quadlock was definitely better then the ram and I liked the one hand manipulation, however I hated the case. It did not let my phone sit flush on a flat surface resulting in my phone to wobble every time I touched it. Also the blue tab looked cheap and did not fit in with my bike. The mount also felt very cheap when being compared to the rokform mount.

The Rokform was by far my favorite. The one handed manipulation and magnetic lock is excellent. It feels absolutely planted to the bike. The case is very sleek and looks premium when being compared to the quadlock. The mount also looks very clean when on the handlebars even without the phone. It has a super minimalistic frame. It's only downside is the magnet blocks wireless charging and you must get a new case when you change phones which can get pricey. I fix the wireless charging issue by simply removing the case when charging. It's a inconvenience but nothing ground breaking
You could also remove the magnet and still mount it to your bike but I prefer mounting with a magnet.

Sorry for all the typos, this was typed pretty hastily on my phone haha. Was super excited to share my thoughts

I have a question for iPhone and the RAM X-Mount users (stem version). Has anyone's iPhone camera ever been permanently affected by the mount or the vibrations of the engine coming through the stem?

My old iPhone 8 camera and now my iPhone XR camera both have "shaking issues" while trying to focus on things while trying to take photos (camera is not in the mount when I'm taking the photo). I have tried factory defaulting them in case of an app issue, but no luck. Upgraded to iOS13 too and still have a problem.

Just curious if anyone has ever had this same issue? Thanks in advance.
