Hi all
Am a new member, biking for 23 years, aged 66.Since new I've found the bike's suspension a bit too harsh for Irish roads.I haven't bothered adjusting rebound as that will not makes things any better over poor surfaces. The front is rather harsh too but I can live with that.Is the Nitron upgrade the only real affordable shock on the market?
P.S.
I had hydrocele surgery last month [Google it] so ride comfort is now a priority!

K-Tech (a British Company) make a high quality affordable shock. I have one on my other bike and I love it. It's likely less money than the Nitron. I assume you have adjusted the preload to set your free sag and race sag on the stock shock.

Just came back from a 3k trip across france and parts of spain on mine. It was grand.

Look up yss. Think they are affordable enough. Dont know much about the rest outside the premium brands.

I've an andreani cartridge kit up front and ohlins in the rear. The bike behaved wonderfully in the pyranees at fast enough speeds with my camping gear strapped to it. But tbh I dont think you are gonna make the ride plusher than it is especially with the progressive spring in the back.

Thanks for the reply,it's the shock that I'm intending to replace, not the front end.Did the Ohlins soften the ride for you?

slightly, once I had it dialled in witht he correct preload, rebound and compresion. I felt most of the difference in the way the bike handeled rather than how comortable it was. but It kind of imbalanced the bike in my opinion and id couple it witht he front if I was you. if comfort was the main priority though I would not do it or if you did dont get the ohlins its to much.

This might be slightly off direction but have you looked into a different seat option? Either a new seat or seat pad might help you out, I use a wild ass and wouldn’t do a long trip without it now.
