CB650R Polished swinging arm?

Just a pre-purchase thought, has anybody stripped and polished the rear swinging arm, is it possible?

Maybe the casting finish isn’t good enough?

Thought about it, got one waiting in the garage but can't decide. I believe the casting will be strong enough.

I think, and this is purely conjecture, that the finishing of the raw aluminum will be pretty tough and it will take a lot to get it “clean” looking. I hope I’m wrong, but I just have a feeling.

OK, maybe not so good an idea then, perhaps powder coating silver would be best. Of course it may be that once I’ve purchased, I’ll spend so much time actually riding that I’ll forget the idea completely.
