The hoses are soft enough for the starter motor to squeeze by.
yes you’re correct in removing the two bolts but remember to disconnect the live lead to said starter motor otherwise you will have 5th of November again lol 😂.
when you’ve got it out it’s pretty straightforward to take apart and clean, while you’re there try testing the continuity between your earth brushes and live brushes. Make sure you clean inside the brush housing and slightly rough up the copper pad where the brushes touch. Hope this helps 👍
