Hello, I recently got my CB650R 3 months ago, and having a blast! I wonder what highway fuel consumption others are getting on their CB650R. I'm just curious since hypermiling is sometimes satisfying. I regularly commute 20 miles away to college and often mind my throttle to get better gas mileage. I am not overly concerned about gas mileage since the bike is so fun. My CB often gets 40-43ish down the freeway, and I find it challenging to get 45mpg. When I am just cruising in the suburbs, though, I regularly get 45-48! Pretty cool!

I can relatively easily get 45mpg off my 'rich-tuned' CBR on the freeway.
Mind you, I could definitely be riding it more economically..

I'm sure the Aero of the CBR will play a bit of a factor in fuel, also in Australia the freeway speed limit is always 60mph or less (80 - 100kmh)

I've had it down to 26mpg on Track Days..

I typically average right at 45mpg with about 50/50 city vs. highway and drive it like it was stolen. Mine was also re-geared so it revs about 500 rpm higher on the highway than stock. I'm actually quite impressed with the economy considering how hard I ride it on a daily basis.

Cbr models do better on fuel due to the fairing. CBs less so. I'd say you weren't far off normal.

Is your chain well oiled? Brakes not binding etc.?

Tyres at correct pressure?

I have a UK version (RH08) of 2021 CB650R completely stock euro 5 compliant setup + the factory engine oil which I’m told is the break-in (mineral based) oil. I’ve done 600 miles so far (since new) on E5 (5% ethanol) petrol/gasoline. I’ve lubed the chain at 300 miles. Tyre pressure checked every journey - 36 front 42 rear. Ambient temp -2 ~ 8 C.

I commute 50 miles per day, which consists of about 10 miles at 30-40mph and 40 miles at 70mph. About a fozen

On the dash real-time readout I get 12-13 miles/L when doing 30-40mph in 4th or 5th gear, and 11miles/L in 6th.

At 70mph in 6th I get 13-14 miles/L.

I get 150 miles from 11.5L of fuel. The low warning light comes on after around 11.5L has been used from full.

Sorry I didn’t use gallons due to UK and US gallons being different.

I'm curious about your tire pressure set-up. Mind you, its been a few years since I've ridden, but isn't the max load for most tires 40psi? I would typically ride my KTM 690 SM with 34 front and 36 at the rear, and often lower one or two psi when riding the twisties (my old CB400SF had the same set-up). Not criticizing, just curious :)

Honda recommended 36 front, 42 rear as do many manufacturers. Check the manual or swingarm sticker to verify.

150 miles from 11.5 is slightly better than I’ve been getting stock CBR650R 21 bike as it works out to 58.8 MPG I am getting 57.x mostly but I’m still enjoying the acceleration more than I probably should!
So pretty close!
