Hello guys, my 2020 cb50r has a little problem - the footrest is getting hot and it paints my boots which is really annoying because I need to clean my boots after every ride
.
Did it happen to you too? do you have a solution for that?

Thanks,
this is my footrest:

Yeah that's what happened to me

Maybe the solution is to replace the footrest to something made with other materials like carbon fiber, it will look good too.

it's hard to compare as in Canada we don't the same level of heat as you in Israel, but I will assume it's more of rubbing then "painting" maybe try anodizing it in black for example, will definitely look better and might be less rubbing. There is a post on the subject here. take a look

This is what the rearset does to leather boots in the summer in TX haha. Screenshot_20200925-000920.png

Can you clean it or did it become permanent?
On that type of leather you can clean it to about 80% back to normal. And then it happens again, and next time you clean it's 70% of normal..by the 5th time you clean it, it doesn't really come off.

But I also always am pressing my feet against the plate. If you consciously keep your foot away you can ride without doing that. Or just buy an aftermarket rearset and forget about it!

*I have 2 pairs of riding boots that are not this type Of leather and it doesn't happen to them

It's probably due combination of rubbing when shifting your feet for braking, shifting, repositioning etc. And the color of the rear sets.

My two pairs of boots attached, happens on both feet. More visible on the Cortech (these are new for this season too) than the TCX boots (had these for 6 years). I'm also getting rubbing on my swing arm on the right side mostly from the heel of my boot.

I'm interested in getting near rear sets, particularly the Moriwaki ones but yikes $$$$.

The heel plates and stock rearsets used to have a heavy coat of clear coat on them but these don’t seem to anymore, probably cost savings.

Pull the heel plates and rear set mounts off, clean them up and either get them powder coated or spray some clear on them. Problem solved.
