Just got the Evotech Performance Tail Tidy for CB(R)650R today, so here's my 2 cents.

Ordering process was easy, and customer support replied fairly quickly (few hours) to inquiries.

I placed the order on Tuesday, June 11th, and it was delivered Friday, June 21st. Courier was Royal Mail Tracked, and I had it shipped from UK to Toronto. Total cost including shipping was 92.49 GBP including tax and everything. Surprisingly passed Canadian customs with no additional charges.

First impression...

Very nicely packaged with plenty of padding. Contents are separated into individual small bags. Aside from the tail tidy and fasteners/mounting hardware, it also comes with a plate illuminator to be used with the kit, nice touch imo.

The mounting bracket is made from 5mm aluminum sheet metal powder coated black. All holes line up with no hassle. Didn't get a chance to throw it on a scale, but feels lighter than an iPhone XS Max in hand (less than 250 g). The stock fender feels at least north of 2 kg.

Installation...

I didn't bother recording a video or making a tutorial since you can find a pretty nice step-by-step on their website:

Following tools will be required:
  • Allen keys: 8, 6, 5, 3, 2.5 (metric)
  • Sockets: 10, 8, 7 (metric)
  • Screwdrivers: Flathead, Phillips

Installation is fairly straightforward, and they provide adaptor brackets to fit licence plates of all sizes. OEM turn signals are also re-used.

Final thoughts...

Cleans up rear end of the bike very nicely, and shaving a few grams off is always a nice bonus. Price is very steep for a piece of laser cut and bent sheet metal, but the attention to detail is actually quite good. If you're familiar with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.), you could design your own and get it fabricated at a local machine shop.

Do I think it's worth it - not for the price. Does the bike look better (imo) and makes me happier - yes!

Hope this helps :)

Looks good. I have a sister one in Red! Fellow Canuck as well.
I have a question about your tail bag. I have a similar one and tie it down to the passenger foot begs. I've already ridden away, after taking the bag off and leaving the straps hanging.
I almost choked when I realized I had driven off with them on. How stable is yours, with weight in it, being strapped under the passenger seat?
Cheers.

I've had the bag full going 120kph+ and it doesn't budge at all. The front straps are actually secured on the rear sub-frame; rear straps are on the 2 "cargo straps" under the rear seat.

Strap length is adjusted just so the bag sits snug on the bike, and slack is tucked under the rear seat.

Thanks for this thread. I’m late to the party but still considering my options. I think I prefer the look of this to the R&G - it seems to sit closer to the bike and looks a bit tidier.

Best looking tail tidy I've seen so far.
I don't think it will fit my license plate in Portugal because of the holes though.

Can't see the point of these things , I think they look crap and do away with what little rear mudguard there is , but each to his own or whatever they say :)

They are fine if you live and ride in a dry climate, and they save quite a bit of weight over the stock number plate hanger, but for us all weather riders, particularly in the UK they arent much good for keeping mud from being sprayed up the back of the bike and your jacket. The issue Honda gave themselves when making these bikes with a shorter rear end, was having to make the hanger longer and therefore less easy on the eye.

Honda should be capable of designing a decent looking rear mudguard which would be acceptable to a lot of us but these things are influenced by racing bikes aren't they, minimalist rear end, a fashion thing, but let those who want that fit their tail tidy but it would be nice if some of us could have the option of a fuller mudguard .
ps fender extender for front mudguard anybody:)

I'm trying to order from their website but the price I'm getting is 120gbp. Did you add a coupon or something?

I now fully understand your comment about the front fender extender. After yesterday's muddy commute the front wheel has decorated the inside of the upper fairings through which the front forks pass, as well as coating the upper forks. Am surprised it didn't cover the dash to be honest.

Yeah I e-mailed them when the product was still fairly new, and they were kind enough to send me a 10% off & free shipping coupon code.

Looks so much better, was the installation easy? Mine should arrive in the next 2 days.

Thanks! Had a lot of issues removing the 4 x 8mm Hex bolts holding in the OEM snow scoop. Unfortunately, your standard Allen keys won't do it as they are machined in too tight by the factory. Once they're removed though it was pretty simple!
