All 650Rs CBR650R engine idle speed from cold

It makes me cringe when people jump on a cold bike start it up and off they go. Get a car ! Your no biker.

Never had a big V-twin then? Manufacturers advice, don't let it sit and idle, just get on and ride!

The CBR does sit at high idle unusually long compared to any other bike I've owned (including a 2016 VFR). I do the 'gloves on' thing but it would carry on for ages if I let it. It fades back to normal revs as soon as you put it in gear and pull away. Will let you know how much I've damaged the engine after the 16k service in a couple of weeks...

I've been thinking about this thread and am about to call bullshit on some people.
First a disclaime: I do not know how the 650R dash shows RPM, but the 650F shows RPM in steps of 200. If the 650R is more precise, then I stand corrected, but as it is, I find it absurd that people claim numbers like 1250 or 1300 RPM because you simply cannot see the difference between 1200 and 1399 (or however it's rounded) and you're not gonna convince me you can accurately hear the difference between 1200 and 1300 RPM

2015 650f, agree idle speed is 1300 non adjustable, after being told by dealer to start & go not leave it idling I start mine in gear then go, my old ears don't like the loud clonk when engaging gear before idle speed has settled. I find the fuelling a bit lumpy compared to my 2000 model blackbird which I guess is to do with emissions needing to be lower & running lean

For me too the laps are too many ... and also the warm-up time, but I don't think you can adjust it yourself without Honda assistance.

Who told you it was damaging your gearbox? Its idling right where it is programmed to be for lower emissions at idle.

That clunk you get when engaging 1st isn't damaging anything. It's normal.

Idle should be 1250 +/-100 so 1350rpms is exactly right.

Pull the clutch in for a few seconds before engaging 1st. That will lessen the clunking.

My 650F is idling around 1250-1300(PCFC installed), idle seemed to take about 400s to stabilize during this run.

sometimes i even hear when gearbox catching wrong "sprocket" - same as when in ride you'd try to change gear without clutch- it sounds abnormal, not normal; not always tho. i had many bikes, and compare to them this one sounds like it should run no more than 1200 at idle. just my opinion...
