My vote would be
Front: EBC Sintered FA142HH
Rear: EBC Organic FA496

Just changed my pads as above a few weeks ago and very happy with the results

Did you have any issues with EBC Sintered FA142HH right after the installation of too much brake drag ?
It appears to be creating to much friction on the disk, or maybe it should be like that.

Nothing significant that I remember.
Did you clean up the "pins" and other parts to ensure that all moving/sliding parts are operating smoothly?

Hi,

I just wanted to add my 2 cents after resolving the issue I had.

My bike has about 21000km .

I got the OEM break pads 06455-MJE-D02 it appears that the EBC pads are about 0.5mm thicker per pad then the OEM pads.

I installed the new OEM pads, and the my issue resolved.

One thing that seems to happen a lot that I noticed, is people forget to clean the pistons, they get gummed up with brake dusts. I fix and help the local motorcycle group in my area. A few people had similar problems with new brake pads dragging, 90% of the time it was the pistons not fully retracting.

Watch this video around the 3 minute mark.

I bought the bike used and swap to EBC pads, I did about 5000K with the EBC pads so far and no issues.

I've had my bike from new. I did approx 10.5k miles on original pads, before changing to EBC (Sintered on Front and Organic on rear) and I've done around 5k miles since with no issues

I clean the disk every other week with break cleaner, and every once in a while I use some sand paper on the disk and after it use break cleaner and rugs so the disk is shiny like a mirror :)
I learned that in motorcycle tech course I did last year, after I decided to do as much as maintenance by myself.
when I replaced the pads I sure did clean the pistons and they where so easy to push back all the way in I did it with my fingers without using any tools.

I agree with you that pushing the pistons back before cleaning is bad and dangerous it can easily affect the piston rubber sealing from doing its job and may break from stopping the bike.

Hi Everyone,

I apologise if this is a redundant question but ive never bought brake pads before and the OP has a CBR650R.... I own a CBR650F ABS 2017 model and need new front pads, as far as I can tell the EBC FA142HH should fit, is that correct?

I have a question about front brake pads. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/2015/cbr650f-a-cbr650fa/front-brake-caliper this diagram says you need two sets of front brake pads (4 pieces) but I watched this video:

and it looks like he only uses one set. am I missing something? do I need to buy 2 sets of brake pads for the front brakes? It will probably be obvious once I take it apart but I don't want to take it apart until I have all the needed materials.

can i please ask if anyone has installed new brake pads for either the new CB650R or the CBR650R, i called EBC direct and they have given me the following part codes - FA679HH (front) & FA496HH (rear), however an online supplier gave me code FA142HH for the front ?

I put CBR650R EBC Brake pads in our search bar and this tread was the first thing that came up. EBC is correct.

I have 20k+ miles and 5 track days on my bike and still have the original pads. 😂
I should probably just change them even though they're fine.
