Let me explain...
I'm experienced with the woolich software and tuning my MT09SP
I've just bought a 25' CBR650R for the missus and she is now off her P's. I have the woolich honda gear and the replacement stacks and will be derestricting it myself when the missus asks.
Once you have the woolich gear it's a copy and paste of the maps from a non restricted model plus a license fee to woolich. That's what the pro tuners actually do.
Now looking at the woolich data from the logger I can see big errors in the TPS calculations that dyno tuners use to do their custom tunes. Basically woolich fails to track the last 15% of the TPS and cannot properly tune full throttle which kind of sucks but that's a long story. Basically it means those "custom" tunes cannot actually live up to the hype.
The way I see it there's a case for derestrictions where we update the maps (ignition is the big one) and leave the o2 sensor fueling loop active to self tune (which it actually does despite the myth that it doesn't). A friend has done it to his bike after hearing me talk about what's involved and it's working well as expected.
Basically if someone does their own stacks they would be up for woolich license cost plus beer money instead of $800+ and i've seen some tuners scamming people for over $1000.
