CBR650R Top Speed CBR650R unrestricted

So maybe I was a little impaciente... I know, i am breaking in the bike, don't push it, bla bla,...

So I rode it for one hour to really really warm it up and tried not to push it for so long. Just a few small top speed runs.

Conditions:
- stock and unrestricted
- 10°C and dry
- perfect rode
- no wind
- I weight in around 75kg with gear on plus 8 litres of fuel in the bike
My Gear was textile for winter, so maybe in terms of aero with leather gear you could get some more kph combined with good weather.


First try 230kph slightly up hill. I still wasn't sure if i really wanted to push the bike...

Second try 238kph quite steady for a couple of seconds before i quit. There wasn't really strong wind, but a little bit.

Last try with walls on the side, so basically no wind at all. 245kph and i think i saw a 248 peak. I will try to record it in the next few days, so you guys have evidence.

Remember:
All of those tries were completely legal in Germany and there were no cars on sight. Stay safe :)
I didn't use a GPS! Those numbers are just what the bike is telling me

Vector,there are a lot of non-believers out there!When i said i did 232kph on my cbr650f stock exhaust under the same

conditions as yours but a flat road and a little warmer and peaked 250kph with my termignoni full carbon exhaust on ,not many believed me.

Well,let me be the first to say i believe you with or with out the evidence.This bike whether it is a r or a f can do these speeds if pushed hard enough!

Nice work Vector :) The CBR650R is going to have a top speed higher than the F due to the clever ram air system it’s got - at high speeds it generates an extra 5hp. The Honda engineers generally regard it as a 100bhp bike - so more than 10% more than a stock F, and still more than you’ll get from an F with can/filter/PCV.
Not the case with the CB though - on the naked you just have to make do with just those standard 94 horses :)

That's pretty good, the break in period of the bike is only 500km according to the manual so I should be done this weekend(even though I already pushed it a bit not till red line though).
How is your idle, is it a bit unstable between 1250 - 1300 rpms ?

Well then the cbr is illegal for the a2 licence if that's true .

I think the F pulls the hardest up to about 120 on the dash so about 110mph after that it just pulls up to top speed and it's not that exciting in my opinion.

I noticed it in the first few seconds after starting the engine, but thats normal. The ecu needs a little bit of time, to adjust to the temperature and outer conditions.
I will take a look today if it also happens after warming up the engine

Well it's still on the bike mate so if it generates more hp at higher rpm it is illegal.
Sure but if you put it on a dyno you wont get 100hp. I dont know how they test the bikes though :/
I don't think honda would be that stupid risking that the bike is illegal for a2, so either they are lying about the 5% increase or they are "abusing" a hole in the law. (Haha that sounds wrong but i dont know how to describe it in english :D )

I guess it's a bit of a grey area. They probably test HP outputs using standardized tests which probably involve a dyno rather than a moving bike, so their dyno reading would be within A2 spec.

It's kind of similar how VW cheated their diesel cars through emission tests, although the Honda case is nowhere near as bad or malicious of course.

450 i think.
So you are right, the bike keeps jumping in between 1250 and 1300rpm, but it feels normal to me :/ i've never ridden a bike which had totally stable rpms during idle...

Yes it feels normal to me aswell, I think after a few more KMs it should be a bit more stable, prob ECU still learning. But thanks for confirming hehe.

Interesting video, not my favorite style of riding but I see the attraction.

Too bad it was almost impossible to read the speedo due to the glare. Couple times I saw in the 230 something range but couldn’t make out anything else.
