Motivated by this thread...
Share some of your screw ups.

I have 2 that come to mind.

First was maybe a year ago. I was rushing around running errands, brain everywhere but on riding (bad, I know).

I pull into a store I needed to stop at, jump off the bike in a rush, and the bike slooooowly falls over while I try in vain to keep her up.

It hits the ground, and I pull her right back up and do that quick look around to see who saw what happened. 😳

And another was a couple years ago. I was riding my 650F with a good fried I've ridden thousands of miles with.

We pull into a popular bike spot and it's absolutely packed. Here's a picture of the place:
IMG_20170715_155318.jpg

This day it was more packed than that.

Anyways, we're slowly rolling through, looking for a place with enough room to back our bikes into when my 650F just dies.

Shit. What's wrong? It's never died before... I'm trying to to start it but it won't do anything... I'm surrounded by hundreds of people and bikes. Stopped in the middle of a packed road. People going around me. People waiting behind me.

Not being able to get the bike to do anything, I start the waddle/walk to push the bike into a tiny opening. Say sorry to the riders on either side because it was a tight spot I normally wouldn't have crammed myself into.

Put the stand down and hop off.

I eventually figure out that I somehow bumped the kill switch. I never use the kill switch on my 650F. Ever. So it never even crossed my mind while I was a roadblock waddling over to the side of the road to check it!

D'oh! 🙄

It happens. Gotta learn somehow.

I taught myself to drive my first manual car by going out alone at like 2 am when roads were empty and just drove around the town.

I'd never dropped my pretty little cbr250, untill I tried to swing my leg over for the last ride to the dealership to pick up the CB. The right leg of my jeans had an unintentional turn up and it caught the left side grab handle. My momentum was already going over the other side. I tried to throw my weight back the other way and almost paused at the tipping point, but failed. I made a very inhuman gurgling screech at this point. Turns out I'm one of the luckiest men alive because the beautiful white fairing should have been smashed to pieces by the 3 inch high dividing kerb between my slabs and grass. But it wasn't, my daughter had left our vintage space hopper - the orange one with the face and handles - in exactly the right place and me and the front of the bike landed on that. The exhaust shield got a wee scrape, but Charlie the salesman didn't notice.

1st week I had my CBR650F I was going up a hill, forgot I no longer had a Ninja 250. Shifted into 2nd gear and went WOT, had a split second to close thottle or I was going to hit the sidewalk.

Left my key in the ignition keyhole once. My bike was parked in my lawn so no big worries there, but I left it in over night. But, for some reason, I woke up in the middle of the night, just like that, and the first thought that occurred to me was "where's my key"? I realized I must've left it in the ignition so I went out and got my key back. Totally weird how that worked.

Also, when I had my bike just one week or so, I thought it was broken because whenever I kicked it into first gear, the engine would stall. I had accidentally dropped the bike a few days prior and hadn't rode it since so I thought that was the cause. I was kind of distraught and stressed because I had an appointment I had to get to in time. Took the car instead, barely made it in time but the broken bike was haunting me for the rest of the evening. When I got home and my head was cleared up a bit, I decided to Google for the symptoms a bit and quickly found out it might've been the kick stand that was still out. Ran to my bike, started it, made sure the kick stand was folded in and voila, it went into first gear without problems. Doh!

I've forgotten my key in the seat lock a couple times.. Some times I'll panic because I can't find it even though I know I had it moments ago.

Haha definitely done this too, right upto sitting on the bike and wanting to start it thinking, 'wtf?! where are they??'

Father please, hear my confession: I left the key in the ignition switch and in the seat lock, lucky me, since the beginning i bring the key in a strap around my neck to quickly notice that is missing. I accidentally and unoticed hit the kill switch and left the kick stand on. Furthermore, I began to ride for the first time in my life on my brand new CBR, and as it couldn't be otherwise I dropped it in a tight turn at 10kph and my wife seated back.

Well I hope this counts. What a painfull memory. Bought a brand new cbr600f,had a workshop and before the bike was registered I had it to paint the wheels on the 4 post lift on the centre stand. Lift at knee high decided to take it off the stand, big mistake, it fell off the lift and wedged the fuel tank onto a brick pillar. But do you know it was the FX model and one of my favourite bikes. What a t***t
