What he said. The old FZRs were famous for this, with the vacuum buildup sometimes being enough to halt the flow of fuel to the carbs. Nothing like gliding to the side of the road in busy traffic to motivate you to keep the vent clean! With an in-tank pump you're far less likely to stall out...
At the risk of being too sweeping, any QS will work with the PC-V. You just have to either clip and strip the connector on the QS, or find a mating plug to make a little pigtail.
I'm fairly certain the sensor you bought was Push only. The great majority of their sensors, like mine, are single-acting; the switch trips on a push OR a pull. Pulling on a push sensor doesn't do anything.

I didn't realise you had a PCV. The kit I sell will bolt right up, no cutting of rods, and - with the connector removed - will plug into the PCV with no trouble.
No, NOT the +12v wire! Connecting ground (green) to the hot 12v wire will short out the system, HOPEFULLY blowing the fuse before anything gets damaged.
Without meaning to be rude or condescending, if you don't know the difference between 12v and ground I would strongly suggest you get a shop...
