Well after another chat I am going to set the rear pre load adjuster to 4 to transfer a bit of weight to the front , if I am still not happy I am going to put some 20w front fork oil in, and see how that goes.

First ride of 2018 and my modded de-cat exhaust. Took a sound video of the exhaust but I am not happy with sound quality so I will try again on the next ride or two. and add a write up with it. Just thought I would verbally share my experience with you. Did a gear lever adjustment to try and get rid of my false neutrals sometimes on down change from mainly 4th to 3rd. Didn't falter on my 100mile trip. This is my first ride this year but the bike seams to be more torquey around 6,000 rpm and the air box growls a bit more and I do not think its the exhaust because that is raspy and the air box is growly if that makes sense. I think the bike is 5% better .Tried to see how noisey the exhaust was without earplugs after a 100 yards I had to put my ear plugs back in so until I run the revs up to the 11,000 grand mark I cannot comment on the increase in noise. Up to 6.000 you cannot here the exhaust with ear plugs in.. I am getting on very well with this bike now having got used to the increase in weight from my old bike.
Bike pulls like a train, its comfy, brakes superb, entertaining induction +exhaust note, confidence inspiring, economical if you want it to be. Still more mods to do though will keep you informed. PS i will do another 100 mile ride and comment again on the exhaust and performance gains.

Sorry how this is a old topic but ive spoke to a tuner shop and he thinks I should go for his custom kit . It's not going to have any adjustability but he will set it up perfectly for me . Apprantly his kit is the closest to a cartlidge u can get. Apprantly it's like a emulater of a cartlidge type internals . He says apprantly the only thing the standard ohlins will do is firm up the preload but it won't do anything to the compression damping so his kit will be able adjust my fork so it's got some sort of compression damping aswell as a fixed pre load instead of adjusters. Does this sound good to u guys?

It’s hard to say, I have no idea how much he plans on charging and what he’s doing besides you saying it’s like an emulator. Race Tech makes an actual emulator, the Gold valve, which works great.

So you can swap in a cartridge, Ohlins makes a kit (NIX-22, I think) not to mention the many others who put cartridges from 41mm forks from bikes like the GSXR or F4i on eBay which gives you a fully adjustable fork. That may be an option too. FZ-07, SV650s, lots of smaller bikes as well get the swapped in parts.

As far at the Ohlins kit only being adjusters and springs, yep, that’s it. The new oil helps, and the front end works quite well that way but will not be as good as fully setup, fully adjustable forks would.

On,y you can decide how much you want to spend and how much it’s worth it. All out is the best, the preload caps, springs and oil are a cpgood, inexpensive choice.

I would love to be able to put on f4i internals is it perfect fit?

I’m honestly not sure and my initial guess would be probably not a direct, bolt on swap, but I do know there are people doing cartridge swaps into 41mm Showa forks on eBay. Here’s one in the US:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/151473386350

You’d have to play around with them but it definitely can be done.

I’d be comparing costs of this swap vs. NIX cartridges from Ohlins, it may not be much difference price wise.

I just looked, Ohlins cartridges are closer to the $800 range so the above linked cartridges are a decent price. Send him your forks, he sends them back ready to bolt on.
