Hi, yes it had these problems. Mileage was about 5,000. But it didn't put me off. Got used to the buzzy engine. A tad of oil every 1,000 miles. I didn't really master the gearbox, May be I wasn't positive enough with gear changes, it only was tricky in 3rd no other gear. New bike is 2019 cb500f.

I agree with Brammers 10/30 10/40 should just about cover most climates. Honda dealers don't always use Honda oil, my dealer uses Motul, I supplied my own Castrol Power 1 s/s. Major improvement on gear shift btw.
I bought the cheap levers, fully adjustable and foldable to get room in the shed. Poor fit,loads of filing. Positives = cool looks, fully adjustable, lighter feel to clutch. Would I buy again, yes. Cheap enough to change if you get them damaged.
