CBR650R Wondering how the TC works

Heyall,

Driving a CBR650R 2020 - I’ve read somewhere(I think the manual) that you shouldn’t operate torque control when operating the vehicle. Is that correct? I would think that you’d be able to turn TC on and off during a ride.

Also, stupid question but I am a sucker for muffler pops/after fires. With a SC project Twin CRT full exhaust built for the CBR is there a way to get pops?

I don't get the first part...

You think you should only ride the bike with traction control disabled?
That makes absolutely no sense. The traction control is designed to assist you while riding.

And yes you can disable traction control. (Button on the left handle at the top back (where normal bikes have the high beam).

From a couple of different post I've gotten the impression that most cb(r) 650r owners want to get rid of them instead of provoking them.

My CB650R pops a lot when decelerating.

Sorry, I’ll simplify as I have no idea why I wrote it that complicated. Is the torque control able to be switched on/off during a ride? I think the manual says no.

As to pops, any changes to your bike? Exhaust/tune? Mine did get some small pops on decel when it was restricted but not anymore.

Cheers!

This is what the manual says with regards TC

Personally I have turned it off while riding so I hope its just a safety advisory thing more than anything. I have enaged TC on the bike from a 0 - 120kph scenario, you will definatly notice the sudden lack of power.

So if you plan on drag racing and dont mind the front coming up, disable :)

But I would not bother turning it off unless you have clear intent! it is a useful safety feature and could save you in low traction environment.

All stock. Restricted still though

I think the "do not operate while riding" is a legal cover like "don't drink battery acid".
Probably to stop someone putting a claim in for an unexpected skid in the middle of a corner.

You can turn it on and off no problem whilst on the move

There is a big difference between "don't operate traction control while riding"

And what is actually written in the manual "don't operate the traction control SWITCH while riding"
= Stop. Turn on/off traction control. Continue riding.

It doesn't state what you've said though. It definitely turns off whilst riding as you'd expect. Hope this helps

More Fuel / Less Air > the "Residual/unburnt fuel" gets ignited because of the headers and exhaust excessive heat. So it will pop!
you need to Flash your ECU or piggyback PCV on top of your infection system.

On my Akra, it happened on its own! now I have to use negative numbers on my map (@%0 throttle) to make my existence more pleasant to pedestrians!

Cheers

You can turn TC on and off while riding without any issue. Honda secretly wants you to do it, this is why it's where the pass light should be.
You can't turn it off while is kicking in and cutting power.

You need to block off your PAIR valves. That will eliminate 99% of your backfiring/pops upon deceleration. Many, many posts about this, search should enlighten you.
Okay, I'll do your search: https://650f.bike/tags/pair/

If you look at the flag in my profile picture icon you will see that I'm from germany.

Which means for me it's illegal to block or remove the pair valve or any other emissions parts :)

I know it should improve the engine but as you read above I'm in for trouble that way ;(

I believe you could turn it off or on just as long as the throttle is completely off. So if you're coasting you could change it that's what I heard
