At my age I’m downgrading. My CBR650R is the only l/c across-the-frame sports (ish) bike I’ve ever owned in 50+ years. This one is way too revvy-sounding for me and is characterless. The best four cylinder configuration by far that I have tried is the v-four: a mix of lower-down grunt and high end revs that sound so much better than a screamer. Ideally I’d like a Honda VFR but with a slipper/assist clutch (mild arthritis) and less weight. I’d still have a VFR if it wasn’t painful to ride after a while. My CBR is what it is (and it is very good at what it does) but it’s not a keeper. Loads of low mileage BMWs are about because nobody wants one out of warranty. Yes, they’re nice but after a while they’re Broken Most Weekends and expensive to fix. My other bike is a V twin. I much prefer it to the Honda, which I bought mainly as a bucket list purchase.

Must say, this all resonates with me! So what’s on the downgrade shortlist?

I really don’t know. I’d like it if Suzuki were to do the latest naked 800 twin with a half- fairing - a sort of sports tourer. Like Honda the new Suzuki twins are either nakeds or trailie type. I don’t want either in that style and I already have a retro. Maybe, like Triumph, they’ll bring out a more practical faired version that isn’t tall or heavy.

Hello.

I've been dreaming about one, since I tested a R Nine T. Don´t ask me why I became in love with it, I can´t explain it. I always believed that these bikes have several obsolete mechanical solutions, so I´ve never paid attention to boxer BMWs. But the fact Is that I loved the machine and its riding feedback. Even the boxer side kicking!
I have several near people who faced reliability problems with BMWs. Even in my R9T exploration, I found them not to be very well built. R9T seem to be the land of zip-ties and hanging stuff! The more I investigate, the less I understand why should I ever pay 20K€ for such a Frankenstein bike! After I tested the R9T I jumped back on the CB650 and felt immediately this is a way more refined and sophisticated machine, that cost almost a third of the BMW!
So, I think BMW is out of my list... again.

been having just 1 bike in the house all this while when owning, Harley street 750 - Triumph T100 - Xmax 250 - Tracer GT -Vulcan - Kawa Z900rs - Harley 883, all owned less than a year. I found a balance after the 883, i bought a 160 scooter (Honda Vario 160) and soon found a used CB650R. Now am happy as scooter is to get around town and cb for a longer ride.

frankly, at near 72 years old, my bike purchasing/replacing days are long over. 3 registered, insured and legal runners currently in my possesion are more than enough to keep my attention.
My 84 yr old mate has reduced the number of bikes he owns down to a few. That includes an R6 and a Triumph 765 RS. The insurance cost stops him getting a ZX10. He's had all the sports bikes and still rides like a 20 something 👍

Previously I owned a blade, but as long as this bike will survive, I will ride it, don't need an upgrade this bike is perfect for everything. And to be honest I think the bike will survive me 🤣

Usually I use the Yamaha MT-03 to commute, CB650F and R1 are fun ride bikes for me.
