Hi guys got a small problem with my Cbr650f 2014 it has 38000km on the clock. When I start the bike on a cold start it gives me a loud ticking sound on the right hand side near the top. Please note that I di not start the bike for 2 months. Any ideas on what this could be would be much appreciated. I have added a link to the video and sound of my bike

Sounds like the cam chain, which then gets adjusted by the adjuster a d goes silent.

Or it's pair valves, but they normally stay the same on tick over.

Does this happen on every cold start? Does it go away and stay away with a warm engine?

Would agree with Brammers @Brammers its a cam chain tensioner that quiets down once oil pressure is applied. Otherwise it sounds like a typical 650F at idle.

When’s the last time the oil was changed?

Ye it did it for the past 2 days on cold start then I came home today and started it on the cold start and she was quiet so not sure what's going on. Will start her in the morning and see if it does it again. But yes it goes away after 3 or 4 seconds

It definitely goes away after 4 seconds and she rides fine

Cam chain settling in after start.

Top tip... Always let a 650f run for 10+ minutes after you start it. They hate start/stop/start cycles when cold.

The hot oil will also help the CCT free up.
