What do you use on a ride to carry stuff e.g. Tyre repair kit and inflator: Tank bag, backpack, tailbag or waistbag?

Which make and how much please?

I have always used a tail bag as i don't like Tank bags and while i dont mind carrying soft items like clothing in a Backpack, carrying anything hard, or particularly metal strapped to my body seem too risky to my mind.

Don't do that!!!

You're so right!
I had a crash on a highway with a reflex camera on a waistbag. Almost 20 years after, I still have pain on that place from time to time.

Impressive was the camera... a Canon with steel body resisted and kept taking good photos! 😅

Now, I always use a top case (Givi), even if I don't like the look of the bike with it, it's very handy and safer!

Gas cap mounted tank bag (I’m old school) by SW Motech. I think I have the Trial and maybe City I swap between.

Not cheap but I buy a $35 y tank ring and they’ve been on every bike I’ve owned since 2013. Both still work and look like new.

I bought the Honda tail bag when I bought my CBR new in 2023. I still have it but don't use it. I now use Hepco and Becker soft panniers on their C-bow mounts. I also have a small Givi magnetic tank bag I've had for years. I certainly wouldn't use my Kreiga backpack with much weight in it. OK for clothes and water bag. Admittedly the panniers don't look terrific but that doesn't bother me; they also serve as crash protection that won't bend anything on the bike. I see my CBR as a latter day steelie all- rounder rather than a screamer - that is the CBR600RR

Thank you. Missed seeing the link in your earlier message.

I have a smaller tailbag. I find it slides around a little. Have you just tightened the straps very tight?

Not really, I have the OEM licence plate holder and find this allows me to put the rear strap around that and it keeps everything nice and stable without needing to keep the straps super tight. I did have a tail tidy on for a while, but every time i went out in the Wet would get loads of muck thrown all over me, when i had the tail tidy i found the bag used to move around a lot as the straps were both going under the seat and there was no room to tension the straps correctly. Being able to use the rear straps to pull it back and the front to pull it forward keeps everything more stable.

Got the OEM tool pouch with some extra bits to make it more complete, a letterman knife and some visor cleaning cloth/spray under the seat.

If I need more space I got the Honda's OEM bags for that. (got 4 of the 6 straps permanently on on the bike for faster/easier install/remove)
