A few weeks ago I got a 23 CB650R with 2000kms on it. It's now at around 3000kms and I've noticed a strong metallic/burning/electrical odour emanating from the bike. I've been losing my mind trying to locate the source, but the smell seems to come and go at random times. It'll often appear when I stop at a red light, and I'll get a big whiff of it, like warm air wafting up into my helmet. However, I've also noticed it before on a cold start. I don't think it's the clutch, maybe the brakes? but it doesn't seem to be coming from there. I suspect it's coming from the radiator. Has anyone experienced this? Could the "breaking in smell" last this long? Otherwise the bike runs smooth as butter. I'm considering bringing it to the shop but I want to go in with more than "theres this random smell that comes and goes".

Does it align with riding in wet conditions or on a wet road at all?
It could be the exhaust headers drying off.

I haven't washed the bike or ridden in the rain.
Wash it, see if it goes away. Might be something the PO did to clean it up for sale.
