Hey all. I know there have been similar threads but I just wanted to post the steps I am taking to make my 2015 CBR650F sound and look better. My very first and super easy mod was the vagabond rear fender elimination kit. Amazing kit and as I said super easy to install and it looks good to! Next up is trying to make it not sound like a sowing machine. I have started opening up the inside of the stock muffler through the stock tailpipe. I will add sound clips as I progress!!

Hey everyone. I done some modification to my stock exhaust using a set or uni-bit and a drill extension. I was able to open up a 7/8” hole in the separating baffles. This made a huge difference in the way the bike sounds. Deeper and a little louder but I want a little more. So the Exhaust came off last night. I am going to post some step by step pics of the muffler disassembly. As soon as I figure out how to post a sound clip of the first mod I will.A9B14F71-7C49-4108-B36D-E4C1EA2402FD.jpeg

I had to grind all the spot welds off the baffle and cut the pipes. It’s not pretty but most of the guts are gone. At this point I don’t think I am going to touch the cat. Opinions??9902235E-79FA-474A-9171-DA37CB7BB476.jpeg

It depends on what you want? Removing the cat will produce the most sound and performance change, effectively making it a straight through pipe.

I am most interested in a little more sound. Performance is not high on my priority list as this is my first bike ,I have only had my license for a year and I would like to keep me and my license incident free. I don’t want it to be obnoxiously loud but I don’t like being able to hear top end chatter over the exhaust.
I guess my big question is weather or not I would need a tune if I remove the cat? I don’t want to have a CEL on all the time on a bike with 1900 kms on it.

I think it will be loud, but more concerning is the backpressure may have changed enough to make it not run so good.
this may shed some light on it

If you leave the o2 sensor there, you'll get no warning lights.

You might get rough running without a tune, but you won't know that until you run it.

No damage will happen, so suck it and see!

Ok everyone. This is my attempt at posting videos of the different stages of my exhaust mod. Someone please let me know if they work.
First video is stock

Second video is after drilling out the baffle partially through the tail pipe

Third video is after cutting the bread box and removing everything except the cat.

I had a problem with my cb650f, i seems i loss some torque after i installed slip-on muffler using my stock pipes. What would you suggest for a good muffler? I bought a cheap replica Austin..but it sounds good

Sounds great!
Can you give an indication of how far you need to drill?

Thanks for your post! How were you able to access the baffles for your first mod? The outlet of the muffler is not straight.

Partially tried this today. Drilled into the baffle as much as I could from the opening.. it's not bad but still gonna get a full exhaust just glad to not be completely silent in the meantime.

Von_kloud, how easy was this? Any issue with metal shavings in the box?
