Hello,

I recently bought a Honda Cb650r from 2019 and installed a full system exhaust developed by sc project: Sc1-M.

After installing it, I noticed a temperature increase in the engine. I also noticed that after a cold start the engine temperature goes up quick and stabilizes after riding low milleage/km.

I noticed an increase of the fuel consumption, about 1 liter increase.

I took it to a local dealer to do an ECU flash and he suggested installing a racing filter along side the flash. Bmc air filter.

While performing the flash he told me that the piece in the middle section, right before the exhaust end, was causing restriction on the air Flow of the bike, meaning the bike didnt perform as expected.

He suggested me removing/cutting the said component (photo Attached).

Did anyone have a similar problem and can guide me trough the solutions you found?

Thank you in advance.

Did you ask for a tune to obtain maximum power, or a tune for best rideability? There is a notable difference. For max power at high rpm, cutting that restrictor off would likely help if that's what you're going for, but it may reduce the torque at lower rpm, and street typical performance.

If he were to tune for rideability, that restrictor may provide the opportunity for better low to mid performance, if that's what you want. SC Project must have thought that out and built it for a street application instead of as they would for a track intended bike.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head, since no one else has chimed in.

My tuner specialist told me to leave the small cat in place bc it would help provide a bit more torque
Considering the way the exhaust is designed ( 4 headers to 1 ) a bit more back pressure was needed

Also SC exhausts are the ones that provide the least gains compared to other brands, other brands already have more pressure by design ( 4 headers to 2 to 1 ) .

So what JRinKtown @JRinKtown is saying is correct. A higher flow would benefit the engine at higher revolutions.
