Hello,
today i have tried to instal my new Honda Rear seat bag and tank bag and found some issues with it and i would like to ask for help.

  • I have no clue how to assemble the rear strap on rear seat bag, someone said it has to be riveted rearstrap.jpg

Thanks for all your help.

Pull the new rear seat strap through the under seat riveted tether point. This will make sense when you remove the rear seat and look under it.

They are not fit for purpose. I picked up my bike last week and on the way home, tank bag came loose........the magnets didn't hold it in place. The arrangement for fitting the rear seat bag is a shambles. Shame on you Shad and Honda. Heath Robinson mess! I am taking them back to the dealer.

I can’t comment on the tank bag as I don’t have a Honda one but the rear seat bag I had fitted on my new CBR650R works fine. I have since removed and refitted it myself without difficulty. I wasn’t aware it was made by Shad, but their stuff is usually ok. To be fair the design of the rear end of the bike doesn’t really lend itself to fitting luggage, though I’m pleased with the Hepco and Becker C-bow system I’ve fitted to mine. I fit this to every new bike I use and carry on using the soft or hard panniers I already have. Not for those who like the tail tidy clean look, but I want something practical.

Hi is your CBR a 2023 model, Redrocket? Which Hepco & Becker C Bow system have you fitted please?

Yes, 2023. I fitted the one for the 2019 onwards model IIRC
Thank you for your response. I have sent an email to louis-moto and am awaiting their response. What does llRC stand for, the model of the C-BOW or of the mbike please? Next time you get a chance please could you snap a photo of your C-Bows in situ..............so I can learn! Thanks again, Redrocket

IIRC as above. As far as I know there is only one type of C-Bow. You need to order the one with the correct fitting kit for your bike. The Hepco and Becker website show what options there are for panniers etc to fit the C-Bow mounts. I’ve used them for several years, having interchangeable hard panniers and semi-soft ones. I just fit new C-Bow mounts to a new bike when I change bikes.

Both OEM bags come with harness kit (sold separately) and with those the both bags have been easy to install. Also no issues them staying on neither.

Front bag uses magnets plus two clips to the bolts.. Rear bag is tied with four straps with clips. (front ones around the chassis pipes, rear ones under the seat onto the loops).

Can you use the rear bag with the ‘Race Pack’ rear ducktail? Also is it soft underneath so it won’t scratch the ducktail?

I can slip the original back seat on when using the bag, if needed.

I have a Mototec tailbag. Loads of room in it. Unfortunately, it does slide about a few inches when on the bike, regardless of how tight the straps are

I have the Honda tailbag and the seat cowl. You have to replace the latter with the original pillion seat to use the former. No biggie; the strap mounts on the rear seat remain ready for use with the strap holders in place. Once you understand how the tailbag is strapped on it's simple to take off and refit. I wouldn't strap anything on the beautiful red rear cowl .....😛
