Today, I installed Koso Apollo heated grips on my 2018 CB650F. Wanted to share my intial impressions.

Installation:
First of all, taking off bar weights and stock grips is pain in the butt. Philips Screw on the weights is tight and the weight moves when you try to unscrew it. Fortunately I found a YouTube video which suggested to put duck tape on bar weight and grip to hold the weight still. It worked like a charm.

Then taking off stock grips was so much work that I just ended cutting them off.

There are ridges on both ends of throttle tubes, you have file the one on the right side in order to get the aftermarket grip on, no way around that. The ridge on the other end shows when aftermarket grips is on, which is little unsightly and a bummer (see pic)

Once grips were on, then it was all about routing wires and connecting. I tapped in purple wire of aux plug and grounded the black. Now it only turns on with ignition.

Since, not much fairing on CB , I took my sweet time to hide the wires behind left fairing. It actually looks pretty stock now.

Grips:
There are 5 heat level settings. #5 is very hot. The biggest pro of Koso Apollo over oxford is integrated witch on left grip. It looks pretty much like oem Honda grip.

Pros:
  • Near oem looks. No extra controller to attach to handle bar.
  • 5 level heat settings
  • Memory function, it remembers last setting.
  • Low voltage detection

Cons:
  • Grips are longer than stock. Bar weight on throttle side doesn't fit. There is no option to cut them like Oxford.
  • Grips are thicker than stock. I have short hands so listed it in cons but not a big deal.
I paid 160$ CAD.
Attaching some pics.

Update: I put down 300 kms today riding to and from Niagara Falls. Temperatures were around 10-12 degrees and I must say heated grips worked really well.
They don't take very long before start getting hot and I mostly cycled between #2 and #4 levels thorough out the day.
Also, maybe it's just me but they felt more comfortable than stock and I felt less vibrations on the handle bar. Thumbs up so far !!

P.s. passed a guy on cb650f with a dark windscreen. If you are on the forum, cheers!

Just a comment on heated grips being a bit thicker, just remember it means you’ll probably have more contact with the grips.
