Hello, I'm Trent from Alabama. Been riding since 1998 or so. Mostly dirt bikes. Had a Kawasaki Ninja 650F back in 2010 and put lots of miles on it. Eventually had to sell it due to needing the money.

Recently bought a 2015 CBR650F project that I'm getting road worthy. Looking for several parts, and can't wait to get back on the road. This seems to be the best community for Honda CBR discussion, so I figured I'd join up.

I've read several threads here and found some very helpful info. Thanks for having me. Here's a photo of my motorcycle as I got it. It's currently taken apart awaiting replacement parts.

Welcome to Team USA. There are several online sources for parts (referring to your other post on looking for parts). I use Partzilla and a few others to get OEM parts. Especially the suspension components you were after.

Welcome to the club! and you are right! there are few veterans who are very knowledgeable and helpful at any time.
May I ask how much it cost you? and where did you order the parts from?
I also recommend, to read through the forum to see if you can do some extra mechanical/mod stuff prior putting the faring back on.

Sure, I paid $750 out the door for the bike. It has a salvage title, but I'm going to make the repairs and change it to a rebuilt title. It's not the easiest or most conventional way of getting on the road, but I enjoy tinkering and fixing my own stuff, so I figured it would be a fun spring project.

As far as the fairing goes, I'm not sure if I'll even put it back on at this point. I'd love to, but it's expensive to replace, so it'll be one of the last parts I buy.

Decent price mate! Look at the showcase items, we have posted some modified models, they can be inspirational;)

Salvage bike you say.... So many totaled that are so easily fixed. Good luck to you with the title work. Always a PITA here in FL.

Looks like you have a fine tapestry to work with there though and I look forward to seeing your progress with it. Welcome!!

Yea, the title will be it's own issue. Seemed like a relatively easy fix though and I couldn't pass it up for the cost. It'll be fun to work on. Just gotta get the parts. I've been buying a little at a time because buying oem parts adds up fast.

Welcome to the forum, "Trent from Alabama"! (Jake from Statefarm!)

That's not accurate...these members are real pains in the ass! 😂😂😂 (I'm kidding, the real ass is me!) Yes, this is the place to be for your "new" Honda! These guys will steer you in the right direction, no doubt!

You should start a thread on your rebuild (with pictures, of course!) as I'd be interested in seeing it come back to life, as well as anything you "discover" along the way. Could become a good tutorial for future references!

That's a good idea. I'll have to do that. So far all I've discovered is more things I'll need to replace. I'm probably going with a Cafe racer style on the rebuild. I know it's cliche, but it'll save me money on the fairings, and I like the look better. So I'll have plenty aftermarket parts to show off as I install them.

But it looks so pretty WITH the fairings!!! 😎

That's cool, your bike, your build. Definitely document the process though. We can all live vicariously through your project!

Just be sure you take time to look through an online discount parts supplier before buying used because in the US parts for this bike are crazy cheap. So before thinking a radiator is expensive and a used one at $100 is a bargain, know a new one is $113 and places like Bike Bandit normally will give you a 10% discount if you call, ask and order a few parts:

I also like procaliber.com and Ron Ayers for online ordering.

Good luck!!!!

I'll definitely do that. Thanks for the advice.

Welcome to Team USA

Hopefully we'll be able to ride together one day (especially when this virus situation settles), I live in TN (30 mins south Nash), it's a long ride but doable.

Definitely curious to see your cafe' racer build, love that style as well.
Currently doing one with a friend of mine on his ZRX1100.

I'm looking forward to seeing it done myself. I've been through Nashville a few times, and that would make for a nice bike ride. Maybe we can do that someday.

Haven't seen green rimtape on a 650F before, but it is a nice accent on a black bike. Something different from the red stripes we usually see :)

I also recommend, to read through the forum to see if you can do some extra mechanical/mod stuff prior putting the faring back on.

I'd recommend quite the opposite....don't muck it up in a mechanical sense until establishing a correctly running baseline AS IS, factory stock

SO I meant if he decided to do something like blocking the PAIR VALVE, or changing the sparks or using aftermarket Air Filter, it would be much easier since the bike is exposed. We all know some of the mods will help no matter what status the bike is in. Maybe after reaching that BASELINE you mentioned

Having seen some of the recent comments on this forum it is obvious there are people on here who are way out of my league with their knowledge of bikes ,but the bent front forks would alarm me . I would be worried about the frame being bent.
