thanks, i`ve just bought a nearly new one, 300 miles, the dealership serviced it, i thought it was a bit early? is the original new oil "special" ? was this a good thing to do so early?
Fresh oil is never a bad thing. Because it is done during the brake in period, I would add about 700 miles to your current mileage and change the oil around 1000 mile again. After this period all pollution from the brake in can be flushed out with fresh oil and new filter.
If you have bought a new bike there should be an owners manual and service record book with it (and a tool kit ) Go back to the dealer ,they should have told you to bring it back for the first service at 600 miles anyway !
